Floreria Mercado Jamaica — Attraction in Mexico City

One of the first places that I visit when I am traveling is always a Mercado. I was watching a documentary in the TV public station of my city about one of the oldest Mercados en Mexico, this particularly place was already a Mercado before the Spanish showed up in this part of the world. Mercado Jamaica is my favorite in CDMX, it has beautiful flowers, elotes, piñatas, papier mache figurines, pan de elote, baskets, fruits, chapulines tostados con polvo de chile, fresh coffee, tamales, and many more things from many parts of MX. You can get to the Mercado using the metro to Estacion Jamaica and walk a few blocks. If you have a day to spent in CDMX visit the Mercado early so you can have breakfast there and finish your visit...

Mercado de Jamaica is one of those places not to be missed in Mexico City. It has a large selection of flowers, flower arrangement, floral decorations and basically any thing you need to make your own creations. There is also a food section and some home goods. You will be surprised to find a whole bunch of parrot merchandise shops and even a couple of fish pet shops which are rare in the city.

People are friendly, space is organized, clean, and you can get help from carriers to bring your it’s to your car or taxi.

What a unique market!

Mercado Jamaica is most well known as being a flower market. It was cool seeing the hustle and bustle of all the various flowers being sold. There are also stalls selling produce, meat, dried goods, sweets, snacks, and household items (I didn't see any souvenir knick knacks being sold though.

We arrived shortly before 10 am on a Friday to avoid any potential crowds, and it seemed to work. We walked around for about 45 minutes and ended up buying some candies to bring home. I did wish they had stalls selling hot food (like tacos, etc.) but I didn't see any.
