Puerto progreso — Attraction in undefined

My girlfriend and I went to twice during our trip to Merida, once on a Friday and a second time on a Tuesday. There’s quite a striking difference between Progreso’s beach on the right of the highway and the beach on the left of the highway. The right side of the highway (which is around Calle 80/78) is very busy and packed with vendors. My advice would be to bargain for things that don’t have a pre-imposed price (I.e. some chairs and an umbrella). We got scammed because we were afraid to bargain with the vendors. The left side of the beach was dead quite and empty (with a few local families enjoying their time). I enjoyed how there was nobody on that side of beach;however, I would recommend the right side...

The Town is very small and quiet. DRIVE SLOW AND OBEY THE TRAFFIC LAWS. The beach is TOP SHELF !!!!! The beautiful, clear, warm water. The white sand. Not crowded at at Monday-Friday. Would like to see people stop littering!!! There are plenty of places to properly dispose of your trash. Since people continue to litter, I would like to see the Town pick up trash along the beach on a regular basis. Volunteers is a cost effective way to accomplish this task. I would still rate the beach a 5-Star and would VERY HIGHLY RECOMMEND IT !!!!!!!!!!!! PLEASE NOTE: The wind kicked up pretty strong and constant in the P.M causing me to leave sooner than planned. Excelente playa muy bonita, obviamente con un poco de sargazo pero todo excelente, ahí está Poseidón, también tuve la oportunidad de filmar un pelícano, a un compañero le tocó agarrar una estrella de mar, el agua muy cálida te metes unos 30 metros y el agua apenas te da a la cintura. La marea muy tranquila. Cuenta con Oxxo en la calle frente al mar, hay regaderas para quitarte la arena , baños públicos, souvenirs, puestos de marquesitas, depósitos de 🍺🍻, ojo tengan cuidado con algunos puestos q solamente te venden el VASO PREPARADO SIN CHELA, la cual tiene un precio aparte. Lo q hicimos nosotros fue comprar dos six en el depósito y botana, te dejan pistear en la playa, también hay vigilancia, después de las 6 se acaba todo, los polis si te ven tomando amablemente te comentan q ya no puedes pistear y te piden q levantes tu basura. También los ambulantes recogen y se queda sólo. Para las sombrillas con sillas q están en la playa te piden consumo en alguna fondita cercana al mar, o sin consumo sale en $300 todo el día. Yo fui en autobús$35 pesos, lo tome en la calle 62, de Mérida está a media hora. También hay mercado a 200mts del mar. Yo comí en una fondita pero me desilucióno el pescado frito y mi esposa pidió ceviche y muy mal. Unos amigos pidieron camarones a la diabla y estaban buenos. Cerveza fría pero con el 🥵 calor no duran jajaja. Espero les ayude la información excelente visita....
