The Malecon Campeche is a lovely, beautiful and well-maintained paved walkway in Campeche along the Gulf of Mexico.
I walked along Campeche’s Malecon during my visit in fall 2015. I felt completely safe and comfortable here as a solo female as well.
The waterfront promenade was a beautiful walkway lined with pretty palm trees that ran alongside the Gulf of Mexico. The paved path was well-maintained and was a popular place for runners, joggers and walkers, especially in the morning.
I started my walk from the Puerta del Mar (the sea gate/opening of Campeche’s wall) and strolled for a long ways north along the Gulf. It was a lovely, pleasant, peaceful and relaxing atmosphere walking here. Along the path, there were large multi-coloured letters that spelled out “Campeche.” It was a popular spot to take photographs or a selfie!
The views of the Gulf of Mexico from the Malecon were absolutely beautiful and made for great photos. There were a few areas along the path where there were circular jut-outs from the path stretched out over the water. They all differed and some had monuments, artistic pieces and even ancient cannons. There were also benches for resting situated at various points along the path.
I re-visited the Malecon during the evening of November 27th, my last night in Campeche to watch the sunset. Watching the spectacular and vibrantly coloured orange sunset over the water was an incredible experience!
The Malecon is a beautiful place to go for a relaxing walk/jog with amazing views of the Gulf of Mexico. It is also the perfect place in Campeche to watch incredible sunsets in the evening.

Read moreCampeche is my favourite city in Mexico but Malecón is like the cherry on top of the cake. We really enjoyed going for an evening run there. It's perfectly maintained, clean and absolutely safe. There are many monuments, including beautiful giant mexican flag or Campeche sign as it's typical for mexican cities and towns, or fountain light show ( I think it's presented from Thursday to Sunday only) There are many restaurants and food places along the way (some surprisingly cheap) If you're in Campeche, Malecón is something you...
Read moreWe walked over from street 59 after dinner. Definitely get the flat sweet waffles with topping melted in (we did Nutella and banana) made to order on the fire, they are so good and fun to watch being made! The water light show had music and would have been even more fun if people were dancing (probably on weekends). There were lots of people watching in the teird stands with us. Great locals vibe. Lovely malecon...
