Blue Sky Tower Residence — Attraction in Ulaanbaatar

By far the worst “4-star hotel” I have ever been to in my life. To begin, my room was extremely hot, 32°C when I entered. It was only blowing hot air. I complained to the front desk and asked for a refund because I wanted to switch hotels. They said no. All they did was switch my room. No upgrade, no free services, no sorry. Nothing. They also said that all the guests were having the same issue and they ran out of fans. Secondly, I called room service and asked for vegetarian options. They said they had none which is really interesting because there are many vegetarian options on their menu. Most of the workers speak zero English. The gym is also tiny and hot with very few machines, and closes super early. The WiFi is horrible. The only good thing is the view and location, but there are plenty of other hotels around....

Poor old Blue Sky lounge. Something has gone terribly wrong with this place. Is it the management, is it the interior, broken sound system or the lack of good food choices on the menu? Or simply all of the above. It feels so run down and quite uncomfortable, especially during the evening when they turn on the lights it makes you feel as if you are being interrogated. The food and drinks are way overpriced for what they're worth. I guess only first time tourists come here for the view nowadays. And even for that, the windows were badly frosted. Like seriously, what's wrong...

It's amazing to watch down on Ulaanbaatar City from their lounge on the 23rd floor. Their food is top notch and so are the drinks they offer. From plenty of varieties of gin, to red and white wines from all over the world, beers, to the known and unknown whiskeys. Even Johnny Walker Blue is on the menu. They also have live music every day except Sunday. It is definitely worth a visit when you're in Ulaanbaatar - there's no equivalent within a thousand miles, literally! A hint: if you're afraid of hights, the elevator has glass windows and might make you uncomfortable.
