The Portuguese city although small has many interesting parts and so lots to offer. When you step through the walls you are immediately transported back in time and can feel the blend of cultures. I particularly liked walking the ramparts and looking at all the different viewpoints. As a UNESCO listed area for sure it is unique and a treasure for the Moroccan people to safeguard and enjoy!

El Jadida, Morocco, was originally the fortified Portuguese outpost of Mazagan with four churches and a citadel. The Portuguese remained there for over 200 years until the settlement was abandoned in 1769.

El Jadida este un oraș fortificat de pe coasta atlantică a Marocului, construit de portughezi la începutul secolului al XVI-lea sub numele de Mazagan. În anul 1769, fortăreața a fost cedată Marocului. Zidurile sale, considerate una dintre cele șapte minuni de origine portugheză din lume, reflectă îmbinarea influențelor europene și marocane. Din 2004, El Jadida (fostul Mazagan) este inclusă în Patrimoniul Mondial UNESCO, fiind recunoscută ca un exemplu remarcabil al schimbului cultural și al arhitecturii renascentiste portugheze.
