Restaurant La Portugaise — Restaurant in El Jadida

This Restaurant/Bar is located in the Kasbah Boulaouane surrounded by the Portuguese Wall. You can sit inside Ground Floor, first Floor or on the terrace which is surrounded by a wall as well. We went on the terrace and ordered a Vanilla Milkshake and a Panache. We have shown a picture of a Panache with nuts on Top and have asked the waiter two times if it can be prepared in the same way with nuts what he has confirmed twice. But it was served without nuts. The Vanilla Milkshake was served with a huge piece of watered ice cube. At the beginning it was invisible because of plenty of whipped cream on Top. Then I have seen the huge piece of ice cube and have returned it. Of course the Milkshake without that ice-cube then turned out to be a small portion. The Toilets downstairs were in a bad condition. One Toilet has had no seat. The other Toilet has had a damaged flush. The button of it was missed and you needed to use a metal piece of rod. This piece of mechanic was dangerous to press without getting hurt at the hand. Finally we have...

Quite disappointed, honestly. For a restaurant that calls itself "La Portugaise"...there is no Portuguese or even Portuguese-inspired food. Anyway, we ordered the tagine. We had had better. Portioning may not satisfy you either. The salad & mint tea were good. The terrace seating space was quite charming. If they only had a decent menu selection along with great food - this place would be quite the joint. Maybe it's just better to order coffee and snacks. Bathroom was not clean, unfortunately (someone had literally relieved themselves on the floor...and I ain't talking no. 1). If you are a party bigger than 3, there is a chance someone may not receive an order on time (they forgot an order completely). PS: on the way to the entrance, you will likely get harassed by the annoying and rude El Jadida...

TERRIBLE EXPERIENCE

We had dinner here during our trip to El Jadida because we saw good rewievs online, and it was by far the WORST experience of our entire vacation. My boyfriend ordered a seafood dish and ended up with what was clearly a case of food poisoning. Within hours, he was suffering all the symptoms connected to the disorder, and completely ruined a part of our holiday.

We were lucky it didn’t require hospitalization, but it was extremely distressing and completely avoidable if BASIC HYGIENE and FOOD SAFETY STANDARDS had been respected. It’s unacceptable for any restaurant to serve food that puts someone’s health at risk.
