Tea77 - Matcha and Bubble Tea — Attraction in Arnhem

Be careful with the owner of this restaurant.

At the very least, I strongly recommend not calling this restaurant from your personal phone. Your number might be saved without your permission, and the owner may later contact you via WhatsApp.

Here is what happened to me:

I placed a pick-up order through Thuisbezorgd, but when I arrived at the restaurant, it was already closed. I called the number provided, and the call was somehow redirected to a Korean restaurant run by the same owner. He apologized and offered to give me free bubble tea on another day as compensation. I decided to let it go.

Later, I went to pick up the bubble tea and had a brief conversation with the owner. Up to this point, everything seemed fine and I felt satisfied with how things turned out.

However, things became uncomfortable.

A few days later, the owner added me on WhatsApp using the phone number I had called from, without my consent.

Since there are very few bubble tea shops in Arnhem, I felt I had no choice but to keep communicating with him if I wanted to continue using the shop.

Then, knowing that I was a student looking for a job, he invited me to work at the restaurant. I was eager and accepted the invitation. But when I went in for what was supposed to be an interview, I was simply served a meal and never actually interviewed. When I asked about the interview, he vaguely said that he was processing paperwork for another staff member and would contact me later. That was the end of it. I never heard back about the job.

The most serious issue is that the owner added me on WhatsApp without my permission, using my personal phone number from the order. This is clearly a violation of privacy. On top of everything, the owner even messaged me to say I was “cute,” which made me feel genuinely unsafe and deeply uncomfortable.

Hands down the worst bubble tea I've had in my life. Drink tasted like coffee, even though I ordered a Brown sugar milk drink. It also came looking like this, a stark contrast to the displayed image (seriously wish I took a photo just to show how different it looked). For starters, typical brown sugar drinks are not pre-mixed before serving but this somehow was??? Pearls were tasteless rubber. Cream cheese had an artificial taste. I didn't manage beyond three sips and proceeded to trash the drink. It was honestly disgusting - would give it 0 stars if I could.

6 euros is a complete rip off for this drink. Don't waste your time and money here.

This is hands-down the worst bubble tea I’ve ever had. I ordered fantasy taro and the whole bubble tea tasted very plain and watery. Not a slight taste of taro. At first I thought they mistook my order for some else’s (which they did for the first time, and they mistook cold for hot, and they put into another bottle, and they forgot the pudding..)

They explained the taro looks like this because it got shaken up, but still can’t explain the taste. Waiting time 30min in the store, limited seats.. Not a pleasant experience and I will not...
