This museum offers an incredible collection of bikes, I’d say that the collection is so vast that can be overwhelming when you start looking around.

The museum offers a ground floor and 2 other floors of bicycle history, going from the early models, to three wheeled, four wheeled models, and even some powered models. The 3th or 4th floor (depending how you count) is the attic, where a workshop is located, possibly where the owner of the museum used to fix some of the bikes that are now exposed.

History and information of bikes from many different countries, like France, Italy, UK, the Netherlands can be found here. Also information of different items and elements used on bicycles like lamps and bells.

The museum also has a small cafe with a few tables, and there’s also toilet available. Nice commodities if you want to take your time and explore.

There are a few downsides though. Staff and the ticket counter knows nothing about bikes or some particularities about the museum. I asked about the walked guide app that they offer but they where clueless, they told me “we just take care of the tickets”. It seems that the owner who was not around is the only person that has any knowledge.

Second downside, information is only in Dutch and the page that they offer as a self-guided tour in English is outdated (not sure about other languages). So my advice is that you connect to the museum WiFi, start the self guided tour in Dutch and search for the right number. Then from the menu change to English, and repeat for other exhibits. That helped me out to at least get the right description for each exhibit.

Regardless, I enjoyed my visit and I’d recommended it to anyone.

Debit was accepted. They are not affiliated with the Dutch...

The collection of bikes in this museum is beyond impressive. Still the delivery (at least in English) is questionable.

  1. The QR code information is not delivered in chronological order making the guest wondering aimlessly around trying to find the correct story. Furthermore, other numbers - presumably for Dutch - are confusing as those do not match the QR code delivery.

  2. Much of the information delivered is interesting but the focus seems to be too much on specific details, not giving the visitor an adequate perspective on the development of what we now refer to as a bicycle.

With such an impressive collection, an improvement in delivery would make this experience amazing in English at least. But it does make you think of the development of...

We thought we knew what a bicycle was, but so many surprises, and much more than we imagined. Loved it, it's a fascinating international history of innovation and collaboration, well worth a visit. Over three floors, the recumbents are upstairs but no lift, aww! Very knowledgeable and helpful curator, who speaks good English, and was happy to explain what we were looking at, which made it really interesting. The team continue to find, restore and display items, awesome dedication and skill. The little cafe is v nice, and it's cool inside, great in hot weather.
