We had a fantastic experience here! We arrived about an hour before closing (definitely recommend more time here especially if you are a transit nerd) and were warmly welcomed and shown around by two wonderful volunteers, Dirk and John. Both had extensive knowledge of the trams and the rich history that is preserved within the museum and made sure we had an amazing experience here.
While the posters and printed information throughout the museum is primarily in Dutch the staff are more than happy to explain things in English.
All in all I can only recommend this museum if you have some free time...
Read moreThis is a small museum near Haagse Markt and it is opened only on Sundays. But it is a small jewel for friends of trams. The trams are reconstructed in treasured detail work. The documentation will guide you from the beginning before 1900 up to future perspective of public transportation. It is impressive to see how uncomfortable the driver was sitting on a bicycle saddle in the eldest models. A lot of smaller exhibits around that like uniform parts, signs, tickets, old maps will be shown as well. Tram line 9, 11, 12 will stop directly in front of the museum...
Read moreThe Museum also offers rides on an historic tram through the center city, to Zuider park, and back. It is fun for children and the conductor let some children sit on the conductor’s seat.
During the ride, you can get more info by downloading a guide available online. In general, it uses some of the same tram tracks as the current tram lines.
