Orakei Domain in Okahu Bay is a RUBBISH FREE park therefore there are no rubbish bins & the general public who use this park are to take all rubbish home. There is ample room for family picnics & games, and has a kiddies playground with a flying fox, big windy slide, 5x swings, circular tyre swing, an oval lullaby swing, a small roundabout, a wooden walkway for small with small ladders & slides and 2x unisex toilets. There is a BBQ for public use and plenty of shade trees. There is a pedestrian crossing at the end of the pathway at the main road end that safely connects the park to Okahu Bay Beach. Read moreGreat place to take the family for a picnic these you can swim there but as long as you don't mind a Muddy bottom squishing between your toes that there was kind of off-putting for me especially walking through it before hand and smelling the horrible rotten fish smell that emanates from it before the tide comes and I guess the tide washes away at lot of that but I wasn't paying by that stage but apart from that very good picnic spots with electric barbecues supplied and nice Jetty to get views from.. All in all a pleasant spot on a sunny day... There is a boat ramp, but it is steep and at an angle to the access road. Making it only useful to small boat owners with big towing vehicles.....
Read moreGreat domain. Lovely views out to harbour and Rangitoto. Good area for kite flying as is often a good breeze. There is a part time coffee shop at the top but not sure of hours. Mr whippy parks at the top often too. Very historic area and memorial. There is an easy walking path down to mission bay and all the good cafes and ice cream places. We had my uncles 80th picnic party halfway down as it was more sheltered. So plenty of great picnic spots...
