A small cafe in the beautiful suburb of Ōrākei. We only went there because the cafe is very highly rated and rightly so. The staff is super friendly and considerate. We went around lunch time on Sunday when the cafe was packed but we managed to secure seats outside in the cold and our drinks order was taken almost immediately. Outdoor seaters are provided with blankets to keep warm. Looking at the jaunty crowd and aromatic smelling food, we were ready to battle the cold to try it out. Little did we know, that the staff would request us to move into a table inside when it became available, even when we didn’t request for a table inside. So thoughtful! We ordered 2 coffees( flat white & Cap) both were very well made and we also got the green smoothie, which was delicious. For mains, we got the doorstop toastie was so scrumptious, the bread was crispy but not oily and jalapenos were spread evenly inside. So every bite had the perfect balance of crispy bread, melted cheese and jalapeños. My partner got the Chorizo scramble and rated it a 5/5. He has been reminiscing them from his trip in the States and so finally, he got lucky to enjoy this delectable dish at this cafe. We also ordered the soup of the day, pumpkin soup. I wouldn’t recommend this soup as we felt it was quite a heavy dish to share with two others main ones The consistency was very thick and is immensely filling. However, the soup also comes with 2 slices of well toasted sourdough bread and butter, which we were incapable of neglecting. So we had one each with an overload of butter on top and happily stuffed ourselves. The table next to us ordered the avocado toast and the French toast of which a morsel wasn’t left. Therefore, for next time we are sure to get them two.

This is our neighborhood coffee shop, but even if we didn’t live here, we would drive across town for them. We do drink a lot of coffee while out and about, and Good Day is still the best we’ve had in all of Auckland. I am a flat white girl, and my husband takes his long black as an Americano, and they do both perfectly. Food is always amazing. Dog friendly out front (and that one time he smelled bacon and ran straight back to the kitchen—sorry about that!). We love watching all the families come with their kids in buggies, scooters and bikes. There’s always a great atmosphere with the staff and guests—they really do make you feel like family. And they went above and beyond to make my baby’s 1st fluffy extra special!

Coffee is coffee right? Not at Good Day, greeting is warm and genuine, scones are delicious and freshly made, coffee excellent... good to this point But then I was hit with the WOW factor! As soon as I was seated, a small carafe of water was placed on the table, coffee arrived with a delicate (super delicious) Christmas mince pie to accompany it curtsey of the cafe .. unexpected! the thoughtfulness and generosity were absolutely appreciated and valued. THe cafe was full of very relaxed and happy diners... Certainly would have no hesitation recommending this Cafe and their lovely staff...
