St Johns Bush Walk — Attraction in Ōrākei

Perfect place for an hour in nature amongst residential homes, and the new Sommerset Retirement Village recently opened next door at St Johns...I expect a few more people now will be walking through St Johns Bush. Several short 40 min loop tracks...exit or entry on Gowing Drive and St Johns Rd. There's also a large Kauri Tree here ...and big other Native Trees... Locals walk their dogs here and run through the trails...Not Suitable for anyone wobbly on their feet...Mainly muddy trails...Better in Summer Season...My local place I live ten...

We had great difficulty finding the Gowing Drive entrance until we realised that it was in fact on Monkton Place, a street that doesn't appear on Google Maps. Once we found how to get in, we enjoyed a short walk through lovely bush. Good to see that some of the trees have name tags giving details, and there's a very helpful information sign at the Worcester...

Really nice bush walk in St Johns. It is hard to believe it is there hidden amongst all the houses. We walk the dog there regularly and it’s usually very quiet. We rarely meet other people.
