Te Wairere Waterfall — Attraction in Bay of Islands-Whangaroa Community

You can get to this waterfall by the shortest route from 47 Kerikeri Inlet Road, where there is 2 or 3 car parks (not sign posted very well). From here it is only a 5 minute walk down to Te Wairere Waterfall, walking down the track beside the Secret Waterfall for a part of the track. This track can be slippery in winter and when it is wet. When you are down the stairs (some are rock steps), cross the little bridge, and continue to the falls. These falls are a great little gem, and there is a nice seat to sit on and enjoy them. Well worth the trip. You can also access them from the other end of the track from the Stone Store, which is a gentler, but a lot longer track (I believe more often used - but not local, so not sure). On the way back to the bridge, turn up stream, and you can work your way up to the Secret Falls - it can be a bit tricky over and around some of the trees, but you can get a view of this...

Lovely walk. Difficult to find as satellite pictures just show a wooded area. From the Stone Store top car park go out the back, up the hill, and down the path through the woods and you come to the display board in the photo. Turn right and follow the path. You will end up on Cobham Rd. If you want a circular walk turn left and return via Kerikeri inlet road, and Pa Rd. At the bottom of Pa Rd by Pagoda Lodge is a path back to the display board. The walk by the river zigzags back and forth, has some steep climbs, and you will be picking your way between tree roots and over slippery boulders. Not something to do...

The car park is off of Kerikeri Inlet Road, it's small, around 8 spaces. No rubbish bins or toilets. There's two waterfalls to see with minimal effort. Start off walking down what looks like a driveway. You'll come to a little bridge then you'll see the top of 1st waterfall while going down the walkway made up of stones and tree roots.
