Waianiwaniwa (Rainbow Falls) seems to attract most Kerikeri visitors and locals for its reputation, but Te Wairere is certainly just as beautiful, if not better. Although the Inlet Road entrance has some limited parking and is slightly easier to access than the walk-in Cobham Road one, but I much prefer wandering along the crystal clear Wairoa Stream from Cobham. It's a short walk down that takes you mostly through the open after some of the trees were cleared to make way for Inlet Estate, but you descend into a nicely forested area as you near the falls which is filled with native birdsong. Read moreFantastic waterfall hidden away in central Kerikeri. Discover this gem by accessing the walkway off Cobham Drive by Orchard Estate. After approx 10 min walk there is a bit of a steep climb down to the waterfall. Exit same way or follow the path and just over the little bridge can climb back up to Inlet Rd. Another smaller waterfall can be viewed through the trees if there has been a little rain. Benches for rest along stream. Battleground remains. Not suitable for trolly. Fairly easy for kids to walk. Managed by rotary. Remember water. Steps. Overall medium fitness required.
