It was either 2nd or 3rd day of winter 2019. Couldn't decide between Quake City or Art Gallery then I came across the Botanical Garden entrance near the memorial following the attack at the mosque. Weather was pretty reasonable and the gardens are free. Not much at bloom but the conservatory was nice visit for Succulents & houseplants. The fern house was also nice. Venture out a bit more and there was a water garden, the river Avon and the flowers of NZ; I ventured and almost missed the Silver Fern. Beautiful trip especially since I missed the gardens in Melbourne and London's Botanical Garden is not quite in town unlike Christchurch's. Would love to come again when it's in its full bloom & splendor.

Lovely warm day. Glorious and leisurely stroll along the river bank through the Park. Many like minded strollers: locals and tourists; punts sliding slowly past on the almost mirror like waters. Walked down to the bridge, crossed the river, and then sat for a moment of reflection.... and to catch my breath - as I am convalescing. Then back along the opposite side towards the Boatsheds. It's a lovely, restful, journey. The sun sdapling the trees, light and shade, birds, the whisper and ripple of the waters. Nothing better for ones inner peace

Spring is here, can see lots of flowers blooming in the botanical garden. We are lucky enough to see daffodils 🌼 it looks amazing, there is daffodil woodland which is like a fairy tails. Really enjoyed the time here. have not been to all the places in this garden though. Still need to explore more. There is a beautiful rose garden in the middle of the botanical garden but this is not the season for the roses. Able to see only in its blooming season. Always enjoy the walking in this garden and looks perfectly different every time I visit.

Hadley Park in Christchurch is an absolute gem! This central park is a serene oasis with a remarkable array of trees, especially those planted in parallel rows—truly impressive! It’s a favorite spot for locals, and you’ll often find people walking their dogs, adding to the delightful atmosphere. The park offers a tranquil escape in the heart of Christchurch. For nature lovers and those seeking a peaceful stroll, Hadley Park is a must-visit. Highly recommend for its beautiful greenery and relaxing ambiance! 👍

Spent almost three hours just wandering around the gardens and still saw less than half of it. Took so many photos - a plant lovers paradise. Tropical house the favourite but very warm on a warmish day. Autumn leaves everywhere - one of the best times to visit I think. Will try and do rest of gardens and maybe even a punt on the river before I have to head back home. An absolutely must visit, if just for a picnic in the grounds or a stroll through nature.

Very beautiful park with lots of activities to enjoy. It is amazing to see that Christchurh has been able to maintain such a great park with large botanical garden within it. This place is a must visit landmark when coming to Christchurch as it is located in the central area of the city. Bring food and drink while enjoying the walk through the park as the walkway is kilometers long and could be exhausting. There are plenty spaces to sit and relax, though.
