Nice to see an American diner here in Christchurch! The design and ambience of a diner was good plus the music in the background. We ordered ribs, buttermilk chicken and mac and cheese in tasters part of the menu. The ribs falls off the bone which is great! Mac and cheese was really good and forgot to take a photo of it. The buttermilk chicken was a bit dry but the ranch dressing was good. Then we tried two dessert - pizookies and warm chocolate walnut brownies. Both dessert was yum! The brownie is good for two people. The pizookies can be eaten by one person but because we are already full we need to share both dessert. We also tried the chocolate milkshake. I’m very particular with milkshake so this one passed my standards for milkshake. For service, I think if there’s more customers, it becomes hard to call the staff or order again other food or drinks. But definitely we will be back again to try other food in the menu.

I was always very excited to take my family here for a meal as the official photos always looked fantastic. Reality was a bit different. While having a very nice aesthetic, the tables and dining areas were not very clean, and I was hesitant to use the water dispenser as it was quite unkept on the outside. Each table had sauce and cutlery, however the sauce bottle was sticky and crusty, I worry it could be a hygiene risk. The food was quite good, though definitely not worth the price. We only ordered the burger meals, however despite the size and price they were not very filling and one of the meat burgers had some cartilidge in it. An easy mistake, sure, but quite off-putting. The coleslaw was also served in a tiny sauce dish, which I found disappointing. The menu dId have many great and punny meals, along with many vegetarian and vegan options, which I thought was fantastic. The staff definitely could have been better, as they were very unwelcoming and seemed unhappy to serve us. It did not feel like proper service, I was worried that I was doing something wrong by having the waitress take our order, I am still unsure if I should have gone to the till and ordered for myself and my family? The diner itself was also very cold, which was not very accomodating considering the cold and rainy weather outside. In the end, I wondered if I did something wrong , or if I caught the diner at a terrible day. As it is, considering my personal experience, I am incredibly disappointed and will not go back, except to maybe try one of their shakes which I have heard great reviews about.

What can i say, I was excited when I saw the menu and they had vegan options of some of their burgers, just pay $2 extra. But oh, I was I so disappointed and mislead about what i was to receive. Firstly, the service was interesting. I was asked if I wanted a drink and I asked for water. The waitress pointed and said "See that, that's the water station over there go and help yourself" and I had to get my own water. Ok... not a good start but let's see what the food is like. I ordered the vegan version of the Kansas. The description was Beef, Bacon, Cheese, Pickles, Onion, Mayo Mustard and Ketchup. I was really excited to see what arrived, the non vegan burgers coming out looked amazing, and were stacked. But what arrived was nothing like the description. What I was greeted with was the tiniest excuse for a burger ever known to man. It made a McDonald's cheeseburger look huge. Where was the vegan beef? Where was the vegan bacon? And where was the vegan cheese? What graced the buns was 3 small falafel nuggets, some pickles, and a couple of squirts of sauce. The audacity of calling this a beef, bacon and cheese burger and presenting a limp falafel burger was only outweighed by charging $27 for it. In the end I stuffed it full of the side salad and it did taste ok. But, I really hope the manager reads this and takes it on board. Don't pretend it's something that it's not. Take them off as vegan equivalents and offer it as a falafel burger.

Great Decor, average food. The staff are nice enough, though there was no checking on us throughout our meal, only asking us for more drinks when our food was dropped off though it was a super quiet weekday afternoon. entree platter was pretty average, the best part being the chipotle mayo and the onion rings. My burger came with tomato in it, even though i specifically requested it without ( glad i don't have an allergy ) , and my friends loaded fries were 'nothing to write home about'. the coleslaw on the side of my meal seemed like coleslaw that was prepped a few days ago and had been sitting in the fridge to go soggy, tasting worse than supermarket slaw. the most redeeming factor of our meals was the shakes we had to end everything. Nothing like a true American diner though. If you're looking for cheap diner food, go up the road to Dennys, same quality of food, but much cheaper. Probably wouldn't go back for a meal again, but might be back for desserts. Hospitality isn't really a strong suit there either.

Let me preface that I was born and raised in New Mexico, USA (shoutout 505). I grew up on Route 66, and this cafe feels like an authentic diner, but the food is not. I have been living in Christchurch, and feeling homesick, I decided to try the New Mexico burger. I was skeptical, and I should have listened to my intuition. Firstly, it isn’t a burger in America if it’s chicken. Secondly, we do not put tortilla chips and salsa in our sandwiches in New Mexico. Ask any New Mexican. A “New Mexico Burger” is a green or red chile burger, not a mash-up chicken sandwich with salsa, guac, and tortilla chips thrown in. The sandwich was so weird. I also asked for “ranch” and got this lousy dressing with a slightly red tint. This diner felt like a Kiwi took a 2-week trip once to the Grand Canyon from LA, which summed up their Route 66 experience, and decided to open a 66-themed restaurant. I’m sure people will find this place charming, but you’re getting a weird, un-authentic experience. This ain’t it.

The wife and I have always been wanting to check this place out so we took the leap.. love the vibe the decor was on point . Tried my first root beer and it surprised me how good it was . The better half and I both got the same Philly Cheese steak sandwich one with the curly fries and the other with skinny fries . Over all the portions size was the right amount for the price . We both liked the curly fries had good crunch and flavor . And the skinny fries was on point . The Sandwich it’s self was nice but both thought it was missing some flavor but with in saying that it still went down a treat. We also got a side of Buttermilk fried chicken to share .. and heck if you go there I’d highly recommend you trying was cooked perfectly and the flavors was full absolutely amazing. The staff was very friendly and greet you at the door . It be good on some rollerblades haha.. We will be back again highly recommend :)
