I am a very disappointed as a customer of the Jellie Park Pool Aquajogging facility. There was a notice that was very confusing posted on the notice board the week of the 13th March 2017 about the Sports Pool not being available for Aqua Jogging. I am used to reading the notice board because there are often swimming carnival events on at the weekends in the sports pool. These carnivals are acceptable because they are prepared to share the sports pool facility with other groups like the people who aqua jog for various reasons. There were no printed notices available for the regular people who use the sports pool such as the syncronised swimming group and many others. I checked the website and found this also confusing and tried to contact reception but there was not phone contact available via the voicemail. The timing of the Water Polo tournament effects many of the regular customers who use the Jellie Park pool because the outdoor pool will close the weekend of the 26th March 2017 and Water Polo Tournament has booked out the Sports Pool for this weekend, the following week and weekend with minimal window of opportunity for other customers to use the Sports Pool. The staff on reception have to deal with a large number of regular customers who express there anger and inconvenience at the untimely decision to have this event with out sharing the facility. Jellie Park is the only pool in Christchurch that has appropriate facility for Aqua jogging. I have a 12 month pool membership and considering cancelling my membership because I use the pool for Aqua Jogging 6 -7 days per week as I am unable to swim in the pools due to Chlorine...
Read moreI was super upset about what had happened this morning. As usual, I went to the gym and signed in at the entrance. I found out I left my towel in the car after a few minutes I got to the fitness centre, so I went to the car park to grab it. When I was back, the staff who was doing the sign-in was gone, and so I was heading to the reception to tell them I had signed in already. However, a staff with a serious look on her face rushed out in my way and asked if I had signed in. I answered yes and was going to explain what happened. She interrupted me and asked again with no patient. I thought she didn't hear me last time, so I said yes again. After that, she said nothing and just walked away. I wonder how it is possible to get the answer if you are not even listening. I understand this is a tough time for all of us, and I do appreciate all the work you have done to us. However, I don't think I have done something seriously wrong that I deserved to be treated like that. I talked with my friends about that, and they said this is not the first time something like...
Read moreGood facility. I’ve been swimming lengths in both 25-metre pools (Sport and Rec), divided into single lanes. The Rec pool water was very cloudy on my first visit but much clearer next time, so maybe a busy public-swimming week affects turbidity. Cost for a swim is NZ$6.70 (May 2025, concessions available). Cubbyholes available on Rec pool deck; benches on Sport pool deck; and lockers are also available. You can also leave valuables, such as phones, at the front desk. There are also a kiddie pool, a whirlpool and a sauna, plus a seasonal outdoor pool and indoor gyms. (Change rooms could use a soap dispenser in the shower stalls; one cubicle in the Ladies' changeroom is missing a shelf.) There really should be (mandatory) showers before entering the pools; as it is, there is too long a walk between the changerooms and the pools, so people don't shower first. The café has no vegan hot or cold baked goods, which is disappointing for a health-oriented facility. I did see a vegan Magnum ice-cream bar in the freezer. Pleasant staff. Popular facility...
