Rude rude rude. The customer service is non existent. It could be lack of human compassion or just pure snobbery I'm not sure but unlike the other New Worlds around that are not only friendly and kind, but offer good deals and click and collect options, the Fendalton store seem intent on treating customers like school children if you do not click and collect on time even with reasons and calling ahead to let the customer service desk know. I've never been scolded or yelled at by any other Supermarket staff before like I was at Fendalton New World. The woman who I will name Karen knocks on my window after I waited 15 minutes and called which is protocol with New world Click and collect although most have staff who come out when cars park in the very visible Click and Collect area. So Karen knocks and doesn't apologize or even say hello. Instead I am met with an aggressive set of questions as to why I'm late to collect my groceries, of which were missing atleast six items. I told her I had called ahead. This seemed of no difference to Karen who ignored me and just rabbited on like a nasty teacher. "You're supposed to be here to collect at the time specificied" Despite noone else in the queue or any reason for Karen's anger I did apologies and she still kept on. She placed a bag of groceries in the back seat and stormed off. I burst into tears and drove off. I'll never visit that New World again. Ilam, Bishopdale, Rangiora and Kaiapoi are all fantastic New World supermarkets. I'll stick...
Read moreGenerally have had good experiences at this New World and the staff. Recently had a more soured encounter with a staff when we asked about a promotion for a cooler bag. The cashier very helpfully pointed out the promotion but the gentleman helping her bag immediately refuted her and said that if we didnât see a cooler bag that there werenât any. We asked if he was sure and he said no there is no bag, if you donât see a bag there are no bags. We asked if we should check and he wandered off disinterested. It was quite a strange experience.
We went back to check and it stated to get it from the customer service desk. We asked a separate cashier who then found a manager who went to get us a cooler bag.
I think the key takeaway is to make sure staff aware of promotions. A bigger lesson is to let staff such as this gentleman know, that if he does not know the answer to simply refer to a manger instead of shutting down customers and wandering away. He was also standing beside the manager the entire time, not sure if she heard the initial conversation, but if she did than perhaps a general level of apathy has seeped into the morale...
Read moreI recently had the pleasure of shopping at the New World supermarket in Fendalton and I have to say, it was a fantastic experience. The franchise owners of this store have clearly made it a priority to ensure that their customers have the best possible experience. One of the things that stood out to me was the fact that all of the checkouts were staffed with at least two employees, which made the purchasing process quick and efficient. This emphasis on customer service is greatly appreciated, and it was clear that the staff was well-trained and friendly. I also noticed that they employ a lot of young people, which is fantastic in today's day and age. Overall, I would highly recommend the New World supermarket in Fendalton to anyone looking for a great shopping experience with friendly and...
