Gluten free food was not gluten free, it was yummy, but sadly there was cross contamination, vomiting all night. I do see lots of good ratings for this place, but perhaps there has been a change in ownership or different cook. Definitely not safe for a coeliac now anyway.
Just updating in response to owner. We had: GF chips, GF vege pattie, GF mussels, GF fish, GF chicken burger, then a regular chicken burger and two regular fish. I'll give you a ring since coming over is a bit of a distance. I did note that the (all individually wrapped) GF and regular burgers and fish were in the same paper carry bag. Sometimes the problem isn't the source ingredients, but possibly a handling issue.
Another update: I rang them, unfortunately they aren't interested in figuring out what went wrong, said no one else has complained, despite all the bad reviews on facebook coeliac group (wish I had read that first!). They don't really get it, hadn't heard of cross contamination. Bummer. Was yummy food, they say they use separate fryer, tongs etc, a pity they are just slipping...
Read moreHad takeout here twice last week. Best Chinese takeaway we have found in Christchurch yet, by far!!!! Massive containers filled to the brim with food. You can choose it with or without rice and it is only a few dollars more without the rice. We had lemon chicken, sweet and sour pork, chicken fried rice and wontons. It was ample for six people including a teenage boy who has hollow legs! It was amazingly tasty and just delicious. Also what I noticed was not a lot of sauce, but enough to cover each piece of sweet and sour pork or chicken. It wasn’t drenched in it which you find other places. I really liked that. The batter was crispy and hot. The wontons are not the typical shape - they were different but crispy and delicious!!! A lot of meat in them unlike others that are just the wonton wrappers and less than a teaspoon of meat. This had ALOT of meat!! This will now be our go to Chinese and fish and chips shop!!! Thanks Supreme. We...
Read moreAs far as Gluten Free burgers go, this place has got them down, and the price is fair. A bit more expensive than the other GF chips shop in the area but I think the burgers are a bit better too. I haven't seen their kitchen so I can't comment on practices of cross contamination, however I can say I have not had issues after eating here (but I am also not the kind of cealic who gets sick just thinking about gluten, I am not too sensitive to slight cross contamination). I am not a huge fan of their crinkle cut chips. They are the same size and texture as the cheap as value frozen chips I can buy at the supermarket....
