Dear Taiping Management,
I am writing to formally express my concerns regarding an incident that occurred during a recent visit to your store. On hte 26th of May 2024 around 5pm, upon purchasing some raw meat packaged in a plastic tray, I noticed that blood had dribbled around the packaging. In the interest of hygiene, I took a paper bag supplied to wrap around the package.
However, the cashier, a middle-aged woman, reacted as though I had committed a serious offense by educating me about taking the paper bag. She pointed to a notice at the front counter indicating that the bag cost 10 cents. I explained to her that I was aware of the blood around the packaging and was willing to pay for the bag. Despite this, she chose to chat with her colleague rather than address my concern politely. When I thanked her, she neither looked at me nor acknowledged my gratitude, instead she choose to talk and laugh loudly with her colleague. Her customer service behavior was terribly rude, lack of respect and quite disgusting.
Handling raw meat without proper hygiene can cause serious health issues like Leptospirosis, Campylobacter, Salmonella, Cryptosporidium, and Orf. This level of customer service and attention to hygiene is unacceptable and reflects poorly on your business. I strongly urge you to provide additional training for your front counter staff to ensure they understand the importance of both hygiene and respectful customer interactions. The reputation of Taiping depends on the quality of service provided to customers, and such impolite behavior is detrimental to that standard of...
Read moreI LOVE THIS PLACE!! Today was one of my weekly trips that I've done in the past few years, but today when I went to the store of my choice, Mt Wellington, it had a TERRIBLE seafood smell as I walked into the store.....Not sure why...the entire rest of the store was fine, super clean and tidy. I bought barbecued pork and roasted pork belly and lots of AMAZING produce. Always restocking the shelves and wiping down the work spaces makes me reassued that it is a very sanitary store providing the best quality products. As an American chef, it excites me that I have access to so much . more of the incredible authentic ingredients for Asian cooking. I din't have that in the Midwest of America. I vowed to my family that I will never cook Asian as it was the only time they allowed me to "Go out for dinner" lol...Aside from the fact that my son is now in a serious relationship with a native born Chinese/Kiwi girl.....I am destined to continue to learn and expand my knowledge of the amazing layers and techniques that Asian cooking has to offer. With my Huge rice cooker, my thermomix endless ingredients, I have yet another ongoing passion to never stop learning cultures, food, family traditions and adding my love to them all to pass those onto the ones I...
Read moreRife with contamination.
I purchased some raw chicken breast. The server put the bag down onto the raw chicken wings beside it (not on the stainless steel bench). She used her hands to put the raw chicken into the plastic bag, then she used those same hands to tie the top of the bag. I pointed out to her that I couldn't now carry the top of the bag due to the contamination, but she refused to give me, or even let me purchase, a second bag to put it in. So this bag has raw chicken contamination on the bottom and the top. That bag then sat on the cashier bench. I explained it to the cashier but she didn't care. She touched the contaminated top to move it. Now her hands are contaminated - which means so is the cash register - and none of the customers behind me are safe from potential food poisoning.
Now multiply this contamination risk by whoever is purchasing meat at this location. Transfer it to shopping baskets and trolleys. It's...
