Breaker Bay — Attraction in North Island

Quiet public beach with great sunshine and protection from the southerly winds.

Breaker Bay is a great option for the brave: the Pacific waters can be ice cold even in summer, and the portion of BB the beach part the hole in the rock is nudist/naturalist friendly. Rumour has it there is a cruising spot down the beach's far end.

Vodafone and 2degrees don't have mobile phone service here, though you'll be safe with Spark.

The beach is very harsh on your feet, and the strong current, copious seaweed and occasional bluebottle jellyfish, as well as the temperature, don't make it an ideal swimming spot. But the views are amazing, the rock pools are fun to explore and it's very relaxing with no traffic noise.
