Stopping in for a mid-week birthday lunch I was super impressed by a multitude of mouthwatering menu options. I went for the Arrowtown eggs and was not disappointed. Beautifully prepared and presented, I loved the dukkah and dill chili butter - perfect accompaniments to the spot-on poached eggs. As it was my birthday I pushed the boat out (actually an easy decision as my friend was picking up the tab) and opted for a refreshing elderflower spritz on the side. The dining space itself is marvelously inviting and casual (we sat in the back section rather than front of house). And on departing we couldn’t resist picking up a plum muffin from the cabinet. Delish!

This is the perfect venue for breakfast, lunch, dinner, or drinks. We loved it so much that we decided to get married out in the courtyard. The weather held out just for the ceremony, then we had a great lunch at the back. I have to say that I really appreciate how Alice the owner went the extra mile for getting us sorted out on our big day. I had the taniwha pizza, my wife had the beef schnitzel, and my father in law had the French toast. We ordered a round of sparkling blackcurrant for everyone, as it was a bit early to drink on a Friday. However, they do have a great range of drinks for all ages.

This place is good, but it could have been better. We got the 300g Rib steak medium rare, cooked and seasoned to perfection. The taste and texture were on point. We also ordered a Buffala pizza that was decent enough, but there is better pizza for the same price in Wellington. Lastly, we got a side order of Fried Calamari, which was disappointing. They tasted like they were straight out of a frozen bag you get from the supermarket, plus they were undercooked. The service of the staff was good, and they were friendly. This place may be better during the day. Give it a go if you get a chance.

Delicious food and warm, friendly service sums up our experience at Arcimboldi! The selection of wines and cocktails was perfect for an intimate restaurant. Our appetizers were exceptional, especially the calamari, so tender! I had the veal marsala with a glass of a NZ red and it was an awesome combo. My family had salads and gnocchi and the steak, and everyone raved about their meals. For desert, I had a glass of delicious port, and the pannacotta and apple pie were not to be missed. We bought a loaf of banana bread for breakfast tomorrow. Highly recommend!
