I cannot say enough great things about this small business. Sure, the prices are probably the best in the city (competitive with the weekend markets). Sure, the location is great. And sure, the owners are the some of the hardest-working people in Wellington (running the shop until 7pm, 7 days a week).
But more importantly (at least for me), they lead by example showing that being environmentally friendly doesn't automatically mean boujee & expensive (think GoodFor, Commonsense, etc.). They lead by example: -- almost all of their produce is unwrapped -- they have a "zero waste" milk jar swap service, where you bring the glass bottle back to get your deposit back -- they take the egg cartons back to reuse -- they take the ziplock plastic bags (holding herbs) back to reuse -- they take elastic bands back to reuse -- they offer an e-bike delivery service to deliver produce to those within 3 km of the shop -- unlike many Newtown businesses, they supported the new transport/cycling infrastructure changes to shift to active modes.
On my way home by bike or e-scooter, I stop here many times a week, and they're just the best. If cloning were possible, I'd front the bill so that the owners could open multiple locations. KEEP UP THE...
