If you arrive outside this repair shop ..... keep walking. Appalling service standards.
I delivered a blower/vac for repairs during the first week in November last year and was told it would take 2-3 weeks to service as the shop was busy. Paid $30 against pending charges. In frustration I went and collected the blower/vac on 20th December 2017 and it was still in the same state as when it was delivered. In the intervening period I was told it would cost between $115 and $160 to service and probably beyond economical repair even though I kept asking for it to be fixed. Was offered the option of buying a new line trimmer even though it was a blower/vac that was in for repair. Clearly the proprietor of the repair shop has difficulty in differentiating between the two machines. Good communication is also not a strong point. It was suggested I go to Bunnings and purchase a new blower.
Due to other commitments I had not been in a position to get the blower/vac serviced at an alternative location until this week. I went to a repairer in Portage Road, New Lynn, who, while I was there, checked the blower/vac, identified that there was a good spark and thus concluded the issue was fuel related and probably gummed jets due to old fuel sitting in the machine. 24 hours later the blower/vac was repaired and the cost was $55. Reach your own conclusions.
Paul of Bob's Mowers, if you read this then how about refunding the $30.

Read moreI hate to say it, but they seem to be more interested in dollars than reputation. Unfortunately Paul is not a particularly good communicator. This can get expensive if there is a problem. Brought a mower back in to remedy a repair that had not been fixed by them with clear instructions that I was not prepared for more cost. Even after a follow up text reaffirming this they went ahead and charged for more work. I was not happy about not been given a choice in the matter. (keep in mind this was a mower brought in for a fault they didnt successfully repair) His response -he didnt remember the initial conversation, and didnt see my text, after contacting me by text with the new charge) The only way to get the mower back was to pay--I left feeling I was being charged for his shortcomings. Often times the only protection one has is trust that your repairman will do the right thing and make things right that have gone wrong or at least let you know if there are complications. Be prepared to have an open checkbook and dont expect to be kept in the loop Ill be driving a bit further to Mt Albert for repairs from...
