Crystal Waters — Attraction in South Island

Loved our stay here and highly recommend. We stayed in Villa 4 and it was beautiful, modern and clean. The view is spectacular and we spent many an afternoon, evening and morning sitting on the deck with drinks etc. I think this was much better value for money than the other hotel room options we looked at in Queenstown even though this was a bit more expensive. The villa is also incredibly well heated and the fireplace made it lovely and cosy. The rooms are a good size and beds very comfortable. Bathrooms are lovely and well equipped albeit a little small. The kitchen is like new and a good selection of basics but probably more set up for people eating out or dining in with takeaway rather than preparing full meals at home. We ate out for our meals so this was not an issue at all. No coffee machine but there was a stovetop coffee pot provided. The spas were always available when we wanted them and the view was breathtaking. The location is not far out of Queenstown which we really liked and worked well as we had hired a car. We walked in to Queenstown and back along the lake front from the accommodation and it was a beautiful walk and not far. Like others have said, it is a very steep walk up from the lake to the accommodation but we didn’t mind it at all. The website also makes it clear there are only steep steps down to the accommodation which may be an issue for some, particularly if you weren’t aware, but again, we didn’t mind and it was good exercise! I did take the contents of my luggage up to the car in smaller separate bags when we left as I would not have been able to get my packed bag (22kg) up the stairs but that was fine with us too. The owners were excellent with help, information and recommendations before we arrived so that we were able to plan and book dinners and activities in advance. We had the pleasure of staying at Crystal Waters, and we can't recommend it enough! The views are absolutely breathtaking from the moment you walk in the door. The property is wonderfully secluded, yet only a short drive to downtown Queenstown, offering the perfect balance of privacy and convenience.

The suite was spacious, impeccably clean, and beautifully designed with modern touches that still made it feel cozy. It was extremely well appointed. Every time I thought 'it would be cool to have ...' I opened a cupboard and there it was, including spa gowns, games and a yoga mat for sunrise yoga on the deck. The floor-to-ceiling windows provided panoramic views that we could enjoy from the comfort of our bed and we loved how you could open the ranch slider to feel like you were dining outside. The hot tub was the perfect way to relax after a day of exploring.

Our stay at Crystal Waters was absolutely phenomenal, offering an experience that truly elevated our Queenstown trip. From the moment we arrived, we were struck by the unparalleled views of Queenstown and Lake Whakatipu—a panorama that changes hourly and is simply breathtaking. We loved the location. It's perfectly situated to be quiet and away from the busy town centre, yet still conveniently close to some fantastic local gems. During our stay, we were also fascinated to learn about how Crystal Waters was constructed and its history, which added a special personal touch to the whole experience.

The accommodation itself was incredibly clean, and it was clearly well stocked and thought out, especially for families with young children. The amenities and service truly set this place apart. The hot tubs were a treat after long days out hiking and exploring, providing the perfect way to unwind.
