Geraldine Cinema — Attraction in South Island

I finally managed to see a film. Yay. Geraldine is a favourite get away from Christchurch. I have always wanted to go and see a movie. But alas nothing has tickled my fancy or Ive been there on days it is closed. This time I went. Held inside an old stage theatre. Steps up the front door. No eftpos - cash only. Good price. As it is an old theatre it has an up and downstairs seating. Couches and various chairs in both parts although upstairs has typical seating rows. There is nothing modern about this theatre just its overall charm. The movie I saw held up good. The sound quality was good and the picture quality form upstairs again was good. Lots of movie memorabilia on the walls. I had a great time. Cant wait to get back to Geraldine and to this cinema again. No issues with parking. They have a website. I am a Geraldine local and called both the cinema and the after hours number 10 days in advance about what movies would be showing and asked them to note down that we would be attending. Explained it was for my daughters birthday and how we were looking forward to it. Dates and times have now been changed, I called again today to check this wasn't a mistake. Old charm cinema it's been showing movies since 1925 and it has upstairs viewing as well. It only costs $12 for adults and $8 for children snacks and drinks are available. Only cash or eftpos no credit cards. You have standard seating as well as comfortable sofa's to relax on it's your choice. Check their website for movie times buts it's worth a visit.
