I used to frequent St Mary of the Angels to attend the weekly liturgy in my heyday as a VUW student. Sometimes, I would go there just to contemplate the future, or seek spiritual refuge. Being away from home was challenging at the time. The church is located on the corner of Boulcott Street and O'Reily Avenue in Wellington, New Zealand. It is the parish church for Wellington Central and one of the major churches of the city. The church is classified as a special or outstanding historical or cultural heritage significance. So, it's worth a visit, especially if you're a practising Roman Catholic. St Mary of the Angels is also renowned for its Gregorian Chant used in liturgies.

A beautiful church on the hill above Wellington, Saint Mary of the Angels at this location dates back to 1843 with uninterrupted services through to when the current structure was built in 1922. The front facade is modeled after the Cathedral of St. Michael and St. Gudula in Brussels (which I have not seen). The church is loaded with stained glass windows and statuary including life-sized representations of Michelangelo's Pietà (which I have seen). Strengthened after the 2013 earthquakes, you can't see any of that on the inside. It is an absolutely stunning church and I'm saying that after visiting the Saint Paul's Cathedral earlier today.

While exploring Wellington, we stumbled upon St. Mary's Church, and it was truly a breath of fresh air. The church's architecture is stunning, with its soaring ceilings, intricate stained glass windows, and peaceful atmosphere. The moment I stepped inside, I felt a sense of tranquility wash over me. The church is well-maintained and clean.

My first trip to Wellington ended up attending a Sunday Mass at this Catholic Church. Solemn, clean and Korean choir was the music ministry that time with their angelic voice. Mix culture of church goers is evident which melts my heart. See you next time 🙏

Beautiful church with beautiful stain glasses and architecture. I went for the choral mass and it was such a wonderful experience. Easy to walk to if you stay in CBD area, then take a nice walk to the harbour/Victoria uni

I don't why we need to review Churches. Is it as if one place sends more souls to heaven than the rest? Otherwise, this is a really beautiful church. Priests are really accomodating, nice and friendly.
