We always suggest starting your visit from the Cable Car entrance, which offers easy access to the gardens (plus, the cable car ride is a fun experience in itself). While parking here is limited and paid, we typically drop off our clients at this entrance and arrange pickups from the Centennial or Beehive entrances, both of which are convenient for parking. This route also makes for a comfortable downhill walk, allowing visitors to explore the entire garden without too much effort.
