The cable car is a technological marvel. When you pay for the ticket, you are paying for a two-way trip. You can travel up to the Gondol and take the cable car back with the same ticket.

When we took the cable car, the weather was not so great. It was rainy and slightly foggy. So we did not enjoy the view so much. Also what we didn't like was that the cable car's glasses were tinted. So it was hard to fully enjoy the views.

The weather on the top can be very windy. So take your windbreakers and some merino wool sweaters if you plan to take pictures...

Voss Gondol is the largest and most modern mountain gondola in Northern Europe. It swiftly transports passengers from an elevation of 56 meters above sea level (MASL) to an impressive 818 MASL in under 9 minutes. During the ride, you’ll enjoy breathtaking views of Voss town centre, the serene Vangsvatnet lake, and the majestic mountains that surround the area. At the top, you’ll find Hangurstoppen Restaurant, which boasts panoramic vistas and a focus on locally sourced, delicious food.

Beautiful, stylish, great views, but Lordy this is expensive. US$40 round trip for adults (half that for kids) in June 2025. Once you’re up there, the nearby hikes are all pretty clearly in a ski resort so you don’t feel remote or truly in nature. I assume if you walk further (we didn’t have time to), you get a truer nature experience. For me it just felt like hard core development and expensive industrialized sport infrastructure in the off season.
