A Zero-Ticket Snowscape Tour in Bratislava

Würzburg Old Main Bridge is a meeting place for young and old. It's tradition to meet at the bridge and have some wine and onion cake.... and the cake was actually pretty good 👍 Old Main Bridge was rebuilt 1473–1543 to replace the destroyed Romanesque bridge dated from 1133. The main reason for tourists and locals to visit the bridge is the 'Brückenschoppen' which means to enjoy a glass of local Franken wine. And because of this tradition, the bridge is also known as Wine Bridge of Würzburg! Wine pries range from. 10€ to 5.50€. The tables set up on the bridge in front of the wine restaurant are for table service and waiters will come to serve you. There is a small premium for that. Otherwise you line up and get it yourself. There is a 5€ glass deposit. You get it back when you return the glasses. You are not allowed to set the glass on the railing (like I did in the photo) or you get in trouble lol. Just get told not to do it 😊 I would say, this is another must see/must visit place/city in Germany!!!! Easy to get to once in Würzburg. You can't miss it. We did a walking tour of the city and the guide brought us here. Really not far to walk anywhere downtown. We visited in Beginning of October 2023. Just before the students came back to school... in about a week there were approximately 34,000 students coming back. #lovetotravel #travellife #germany #wurzburg #vikingcruises #europe #thnkful #borntotravel #friends #WineBridge

I have been to this bridge twice now and both times were highly enjoyable for three main reasons: 1. The bridge has a lot of historic significance. It was completed in the 16th century and includes statues of key figures relevant to Würzburg's history. Unfortunately, large parts of it were destroyed in WWII and it had to be rebuilt; however, don't let this deter you from visiting - the beauty of the bridge and its medieval nature are well-replicated and preserved. 2. You will see an amazing view of the Fortress Marienburg. Photo included. 3. You can buy local wine, as well as mixed wine drinks, on the bridge. On summer afternoons, you will see many people enjoying a glass of wine in the sunshine while taking in the view. Granted, you can buy the wine for cheaper prices elsewhere, but even here the prices are not unreasonable - and the experience is worth it.

Great town to visit. Lot to see. Beautiful walks. The Alte Mainbrücke is the oldest bridge over the Main in Würzburg. In the 18th century, twelve sand statues of saints and rulers were built on the bridge. To this day you can admire sculptures there depicting: Saint. Totnana, St. Kolonata and Saint. Kiliana from Würzburg, Saint. Frederick, bishop and one of the patrons of Prince Bishop Friedrich Carl von Schönborn, Saint. Joseph depicted with young Jesus, the Blessed Virgin Mary, Saint. John of Nepomuk, Saint. Karol Boromeusz, one of the most important representatives of Catholic reform and the second patron of bishop Friedrich Prince Carl von Schönborn, Saint. Burkard, the first bishop of Würzburg, St. Bruno, bishop of Würzburg and builder of the cathedral in Würzburg, Emperor Charlemagne and Pippin, father of Charlemagne.

Scenic, old architecture, beautiful and relaxing. Don’t forget to buy a glass of wine from the shops at the end of the bridge. This is the heart of Würzburg. Always bustling with lots of people around, standing with a glass of wine and admiring the beauty of the city with fortress and riverfront on one side and the beautiful vineyards on the other side. A historical cobblestone bridge which looks a lot like the replica of the famous Charles bridge in Prague, with the statutes dating from 18th century standing on both the sides. It is a recommended place to watch the sunsets as you can observe the sky changing the shades across the vineyards.

There is plenty to interest and divert in Würzburg. Museums, bars, restaurants and beautiful streets bound. What makes the Main Bridge worth your time? Well, there is the draw of drinking a glass of fine wine with a view of the vineyards that produced it. There is the chance to see just how impressive the River Main is. Wide, fast flowing, wild and exciting. There is a romantic aspect, the atmosphere is relaxed and enjoyable even if you just want to walk and enjoy the views. Oh, and it is free. We didn't drink, but we did stop to enjoy the view. It is busy but if you are in the city you must stop by.
