On April 16 2017, I had an early dinner with my friend in Alte Mainmühle. Before we went to the restaurant we searched on the Internet, the restaurant is highly recommended by others. Despite the quality of food being above average, the service could not be considered as of high quality at all since the waiter kept forgetting important matters such as bringing us baguette and we had to keep chasing. When we wanted to pay the bill, one of the waiters (on the ‘Rechnung’ that we received afterwards, it is stated there ‘Bediener Nr.15’) told us to pay 19% as tip. As our German language skills were not mastered at that time, we were misled that the ‘19% MWST’ stated on the receipt actually meant the extra tip which everybody are obliged, legally, to pay. Although we felt a little bit weird, we thought that might be some kind of custom in Würzburg, because that was never the case in all other restaurants we have been to in Germany. After the trip, we talked about what happened in the restaurant with other German friends. They said we were cheated by the waiter. The 19% stated on the ‘Rechnung’ refers to the ‘Added Value Tax’ which is already included in the final sum of 40,30€, and the 6,43€ stated there is only to explain how much from that 40,30€ was actually for the tax. At the end, we have paid 47€. We still kept the ‘Rechnung’, and the waiter wrote down "tip" on our Rechnung. My friend and I still do not know why this waiter choose us to lie to. Was it because we seemed that we are not from the local, therefore we won't come back to the restaurant again? We do not know how to speak German and are not familiar with the culture, so we deserved to be lied to? As foreigners living in a completely alien country, it is not difficult for us to associate the restaurant’s act as discrimination—although I sincerely do not wish to believe so! Anyway, the waiter used the restaurant’s reputation to lie to the customers. We are very upset and disappointed. We have reflected this issue to the manager of Alte Mainmühle several times, but no one replied. So we just want to let everyone know what we have learned from this restaurant, and warn the foreigners,...

Hühnerstall Erdal's Kebap in Mannheim has quickly become a favourite spot of mine for delicious chicken and fries. The quality and taste of their food is consistently impressive, but what truly sets them apart is their fantastic service.
From the moment you walk in, you're greeted with a friendly smile and a warm welcome. The staff, as well as the owner/manager, are incredibly polite and genuinely invested in ensuring you have a great dining experience. They even go a step further to remember their customers, making each visit feel special and personal. 👋😊
I have to rave about the chicken and fries specifically - it's a dish I find myself returning for again and again. The chicken is well-seasoned and cooked to perfection, while the fries are crisp, golden, and just the right amount of salty. It's a simple dish done exceptionally well, and I wholeheartedly recommend it. 🍗🍟👍
While my personal preference leans towards their chicken and fries, the rest of their offerings always look equally tantalising. The mouth-watering aromas wafting from the kitchen are testament enough to the quality and care that goes into preparing each item on the menu. 🥙🥗🍛
Cleanliness is also worth mentioning, with the establishment maintaining a high standard of hygiene. This only enhances the overall dining experience and provides additional peace of mind. 🧹🧼
In summary, Hühnerstall Erdal's Kebap is a top-notch establishment with superb food and stellar service. I'm always looking forward to my next visit and can't recommend it enough to anyone in Mannheim or those visiting...
Read moreWaited for then minutes to be attended while the lady in the door, waiting for clients, said she could not serve me cause I was not going to the bridge and she could serve only if you were going outside. Same wine glass, same price, but could not serve me. I had already been sat on the terrace and finally had to go inside to ask if someone could take my request. Better make me wait more than 10 minutes while she stares the horizon.
They said the waiter was coming and after a couple of minutes finally came, in total about 15 mins waiting. The waiter was not impolite but also not friendly. I asked about which one is the traditional wine and pointed to the cheaper one. I asked about the difference with the other 4 wines of the same variety in the menu and she said the price. I can see the price on the menu, I'm not blind. That's not an answer. I insisted as much kindly as I could, yes I can see that but is there any other difference? And she insisted very unfriendly "the price, the price". Finally I took two of the cheapest ones, which were very nice, but I wanted to try some other ones and not all the time the same.
Is this German culture or are they just racist and impatient with the visitors asking for more expensive wine? I do like wine and I would have appreciated any kind of extra explanation on the quality, nature and taste of the other ones.
Excellent wine but unfriendly staff with no common sense.
Also they do not accept Visa. May it be tax...
