The courtyard celebrations are nice, the wine serving staff friendly and the food is probably decent, but unfortunately the plethora of smokers ruins the food and the atmosphere. It's sad when you can't smell or taste your food or wine because multiple individuals with a nicotine addiction have to fire up a cancer stick and you get secondhand smoke in your face due to their inconsideration... Was looking forward to the Hoffest event and leave disappointed. Guess management is more interested in supporting smoker's rights to pollute other guest's lungs, dinner and drink, than it is presenting their goods wholesomely. And precisely because management's policies prioritize and support some guests freely diminishing the experience of others at this establishment is why the 2 stars are what they are and will stay that way - i.e. my humble opinion = I didn't like it. Response to management: My dinner was ruined, my drink was ruined, and my evening (which I drove 1.5hrs. to experience) was ruined. I didn't enjoy my stay at your establishment because of your policies, so why should I lie and say I liked it and give you a better review? No, management, I'm not giving you a better review because, quite frankly, (again) you cared more about smoker's freedom to smoke than non-smokers wanting to enjoy what you offer and you don't deserve it. Show some respect to those of us who visit your business to enjoy YOUR food, YOUR beverages and YOUR hospitality and don't visit you to inhale your other guest's tobacco smoke and get back to me...

Spent ten days visiting the Domröses in Würzburg where my son in law surprised me on my last night as I had been wanting to eat at an authentic German restaurant. It was a Monday night so they were not too busy. We shared a nice bottle of white wine and I ordered one of the most expensive items on the menu … ribeye steak with side of vegetables and potatoes. They have menu in both English and German. The menu is very well written and provides the history of some of the dishes such as how they cure their steaks. My steak was very flavorful and did not need any of the four salts they brought out with the dish. The veggies and potatoes were very flavorful and cooked to perfection. Meal was followed with vanilla coffee with cappuccino poured on top like a milk shake. Beautiful venue and learned it’s family owned … best meal since...

Unfortunately there was nothing in the food in this place that would warrant more than the lowest possible one star. I ordered a medium New York Cut with pepper sauce and pommes fries. The meat was so tough it was very hard to cut through even with a sharp knife. The meat was not medium but overcooked. The fries were not pommes frites but large pieces of potato which was not crisp nor tasty. The pepper sauce was watery and tasteless, and the lone half tomato with a cheese topping unfresh and untasty. To top it off, flies flew around the table. However, the service was very friendly and good, and when I told the staff that the food had not been good I was kindly offered a free dessert. Maybe I should give the place one...

The menu was pre-determined, but most of us were ready to eat anything at this point. They served salad and a very tasty hot pumpkin soup. (I would like to find that soup again!) The main dish was Pork Knuckle with Dumplings. It looked interesting and it contained very tender dark port meat. I’m not sure what the dumplings were made of but I think it was mostly potatoes. Dessert was an apple strudel. The star of the meal was the wine. I normally prefer red wine, but this white wine called Burgerspital Weingut Spitalschoppen was very tasty. We luckily sat with some of our group who also loved the wine and additional bottles were purchased and consumed. It was a great celebration start to our Christmas Markets adventure.
