🇷🇸 Serbia's Hidden Gems: Must-Visit Spots 🌳

Beautiful fortress that dominates on a rocky cliff and over the city and a place you must see while visiting Novi Sad. It is also known as Gibraltar on the Danube because of it's monumentality and historical significance. It is one of the largest fortresses in Europe and is under the protection of the state. Today, it is assigned to civilian use and has many restaurants, studios and art galleries, astronomical observatory, hotel and many other facilities.

There are no tickets required. To get to the tower you can go directly via the car road, straight from the tunnel, but be careful when passing it - some people drive far too fast. The tower is cute, the view is great, and there is a ton of padlocks around it for people in love. There are also restaurants and benches to relax, but you can walk around the building to look at the fortress more or just at the river and city beyond.

Petrovaradin Fortress is a historical treasure overlooking the Danube, and what's even more remarkable is that entrance is free. The blend of rich history, stunning architecture, and panoramic views makes it a must-visit destination. The fact that this experience comes without an admission fee adds an extra layer of accessibility, making Petrovaradin Fortress an invaluable gem for both locals and visitors alike.

Absolutely beautiful place to walk on the beautifully maintained and photogenic scenic pathways, with a gorgeous backdrop of the sunny Danube River. There are some adorable restaurants overlooking the water as well as a museum close and did I mention the wonderful walking trails? Of course I did :) I am much too scared to enter the catacombs but they do interest me and make my imagination go wild. 🤯
