Today, our family’s faith journey brought us to the Archdiocesan Shrine of Our Lord of the Holy Sepulcher—Apung Mamacalulu Shrine—in Angeles City. Visiting on a Sunday made the experience even more special. The church was alive with devotion, the air filled with the gentle murmur of prayers and the sound of hymns that seemed to lift every heart toward heaven. Apung Mamacalulu, the image of the dead Christ known for His mercy and compassion, drew so many faithful seeking comfort, healing, and hope.

What struck me most was seeing entire families—grandparents, parents, children—gathered together, united in prayer. My wife and I felt blessed watching our daughters quietly light candles and offer their intentions, small hands clasped in sincerity. It was a beautiful reminder of how faith is passed down, not just through words, but through shared moments like this.

One uniquely touching moment: after Mass, we witnessed a group of devotees singing a hymn of thanksgiving near the image of Apung Mamacalulu. Their voices, though untrained, were filled with raw emotion, turning the church into a sanctuary of gratitude. It reminded me that mercy isn’t just something we ask for—it’s something we celebrate and share.

We left the shrine with hearts full of peace, grateful for the mercy we often take for granted. Truly, Apung Mamacalulu is a place where hope lives.

Really beautiful and peaceful place to pray. There’s no need to buy tickets and donations for the upkeep of the church and for education funds are optional. We came here just before lunch and it was so quiet. People were really here to pray and it was so solemn during our visit. There’s a shrine to the side and also a place to light candles. The church isn’t old at all it is fashioned in an old style but the church itself is rather new. It’s located at the back of the market and has lots of parking up front.
