This is where you get some of the best dried fish in the Philippines. You have lots of different varieties of dried fish to choose from. Even though the price is already reasonable, there is still room to haggle if you're a person who loves to bargain. Most of the vendors do like it. When you come here, just make sure you go home straightaway as the stench of the place literally attaches itself to your clothes, purses, and hair. And it's not very pleasant once you're outside this place and you've noticed the smell on you. Also, beware of the pearl/souvenir vendors and beggars. Since this is a local tourist spot, there are lots of pearl vendors and beggars around. The moment you entertain one, everyone will come to you, mostly children. And witnessing this will break your heart. I will come back here if ever I visit Cebu again. And I recommend this place to people who love dried fish.

Taboan Market in Cebu is a bustling hub known for its vast selection of dried seafood like danggit and squid, local delicacies including the chorizo de cebu, and sweets like otap and dried mangoes. A paradise for food enthusiasts, it offers an authentic taste of Cebuano culture. While the market's vibrant atmosphere and the variety of goods are a draw, visitors should be prepared for the strong odors, especially from the dried fish. Bargaining is common, and it's advisable to go early to avoid crowds and heat. Many stalls provide vacuum packing, which is handy for travelers. Remember to carry cash and possibly a mask if you're sensitive to smells. Visiting Taboan Market is an unforgettable experience, perfect for those looking to immerse themselves in the local culinary scene and bring home a piece of Cebu.

Taboan is known in Cebu as the place to buy dried fish aka “buwad”. For the buwad lovers, this place is heaven albeit the stinky version lol there are mounds of dried fish here which you can buy pre-packed or depending on the weight that you want. Theres dried fish and squids mostly. Not sure if there are any others. Parking is few but being that most walk or commute its not really an issue for most buyers. If you have multiple places to go, it may be best to come here last unless: you have a change of clothes, have strong perfume/spray or dont really care coz trust me you will stink! STINK i tell you! Lol Anyway, this is not a pretty to-go spot but if you just want to experience and immerse in the life of cebu then this is going to be one unique visit.
