My first visit to Museo Sorsogon located in a 104- year old building. I have seen many museums around the country and Asia so it's nice to know there's one here in my home province.
Some thoughts to share about my experience: I love the fact that there's a real person guiding us from the start to end. Other museums do not have this unless there's entrance fee to pay or it's a group of 10 or more. I went there with my sister. It's divided into 7 galleries. Ideally, a visitor have 2 minutes to spend to each of these. You gotta be quick to move around. I was told the data presented in the economic and population presentations was based in 2015 statistics. It's 2021 now so there's can big gap. However, I was told that this museum is a work in progress.
Finally, I learned a bit of history of our province because from elementary to college, our studies only teach Philippine history. This museum is one hour away from our town.
PS. There's a small cafe in the other side. Ollie, waited there coz furbabies aren't allowed inside. We ordered quesadillas. The staff gladly agreed to remove the beef for me. We also ordered aglio olio. No plantbased replacement for the shrimps like mushroom but the dish itself is delish. The pili macchiato caramel iced coffee is ❤️. Hope they introduce...
Read moreWe visited Museo Sorsogon on Sunday morning at 10:00a.m and we were enthusiastically assisted by Barbie. We enjoyed learning more about the province of Sorsogon specifically being reintroduced to the different towns and the many different tourist attractions that are gaining popularity in the recent years such as Butanding of Donsol; Paguriran of Prieto-Diaz ;Surfing in Rizal Beach of Gubat; Pink Sand of Subic,Matnog; Bulusan Lake & Volcano, Hot Springs of San Benon, Irosin and many more.
In my younger years, the Museo Sorsogon building used to be the old provincial jail. We were told that majority of what we see now is still the original structure of the building except that it was painted, cleaned and upgraded. We have also seen the bartolina still being maintained.
There are some crafts on display that are designed by Ms. Heart Evangelista made out of the Pili Shells. They are artistically made and beautiful.
Overall, I am happy to see that we now have a museum in Sorsogon that tourists and Sorsoganons can...

The museum offers all the possible questions about the province - the origin of the name, history, notable places, leaders, etc.
The displays are top-notch, informative, and awe-inspiring.
The tour guide is very accomodating. The place is airconditioned for your comfort.
You can take pictures of the display or yourself inside, however use of flash is prohibited but you won't need it since it's bright inside.
