Doña Mercedes Country Lodge — Hotel in Luzon

I was in Sorsogon for the weekend and wanted a hotel that is affordable and accessible. My friend who used to live in Sorsogon recommended this hotel. And I'm glad she did, the price for the rooms are really affordable especially for solo backpackers/travelers like myself. It is a charming family hotel. Just the way i like it. The rooms are clean and the color and design were very pleasing to the eyes. The hotel staff make you feel at home the moment you enter the place and are very friendly and accommodating when i was asking for instructions on how to get to this place or that place. They even allowed me to take pictures of their colorful rooms and 2 cute dogs at their backyard. What's even more convenient, the building is situated at the center of the city which is perfect because i can easily go to my planned destination and get back without a hitch as everyone (by that i mean tricycle drivers and locals) seems to know the place as it has been operating since 1968. It's commonly known as Mercedes Hotel to the locals, Apparently, Dona Mercedes, is the wife of the late former Congressman Vicente Peralta, her children are now the ones managing the family business. (yes i did my research, i checked their website for my reservation.) It is also open 24 hours so if you get in very late at night(I had a drink or two outside a bar nearby) all you have to do is press the buzzer as they close the gate at 12 midnight for security reasons which puts me at ease as they look out for your safety. My favorite room is at the far end of the hall way, room 306. Its an ordinary room with a television painted in sunny yellow and can lift anyone's mood up. (i'll post some photos) There's no bathrooms inside the room though, but they do have a common CR/bathroom at the other side of the hallway that is always clean and where i shower during my stay. The price of my room cost 400 pesos a night. The rest of the rooms range from 300 to 450 pesos for ordinary rooms and 700-900 pesos, for the deluxe rooms which has their own bathrooms, a TV and air-con. Their WiFi is free to all guests so that's a plus for me as i cant leave without the internet. Overall i had a very nice and comfortable stay. As a thrifty traveler, who's not into luxury, this hotel tops my list and is definitely value for money. I just came here since this is the Lodging that i stayed during 2021 Pandemic Days and also the Lodging i knew only here at Sorsogon City with budget friendly before.

Since time flies.they already increase rates. But still same service.

Budget Friendly Hotel near spots/heart of Sorsogon City..near malls, super market, wet-dry market, store, fast food chains, pasalubong center, atm, etc.

They provide meal service in the restaurant or canteen..just walk by and can enter.

Wifi is good depends on the room you stayed., cr is common for other rooms..no heater but they have bidet and really good water supply..never tried brownout if they have genset ready.

You can enter on the side if near parking or in the front of the building..parking is charge accordingly bit if your in hotel for overnight stay it will be charge 100 instead of 200..don't know the idea of this..but may be that's there management rule and the same as before...

Room is big..even for AC room had standby electric fan..cabled tv sometimes had bad reception but now a days...its less to watch tv if wifi is around.

Dispenser for hot and cold drink is okie at place on the lobby provided with cups..updated room rates is not posted..but you can get it.

Fan and AC room is good..depends on the climate...but spacious room, neat and comfy bed...chair and tabe ready..if you want to cook..just tell them your cooking...might have additional share.

Signal is ok depends on the kind of cp you had. Borrow keys paid 200 and can retrieve upon surrender of keys.

Some what i don't like when at night there's a band singer since is near ktv bar.

This hotel is a family hotel and it truly is that. The atmosphere is like being in your own home. The staff are so friendly and very helpful, even ironing a shirt for me. You can have your laundry done by the way. The rooms are very comfortable, the bed is firm and the place is very clean. It is an old hotel, with big rooms, high ceiling and a little worn here and there. However it is located right in the center of town with all the amenities right there - LCC supermarket, BPI bank, government offices, church, the main shopping street, bus terminal, etc. etc. If you go to Donsol for the Butanding, you might want to swing to Sorsogon and go to Rizal Beach or Bacon Beach. You should stay at Mercedes Hotel as it is a most convenient, friendly, very reasonable rates for...
