I’d rather call it the ruins of the castle, but it’s worth visiting, really. You can walk up or drive almost to the top of the hill (there is paid parking there). Then you climb a flight of stairs, go up the hill and can pay to enter the castle. Zamek w Kazimierzu Dolnym został wybudowany w połowie XIV wieku na polecenie króla Kazimierza Wielkiego. Był on zbudowany w kształcie zbliżonym do owalu z dostępnego w okolicy wapienia. Pełnił przede wszystkim funkcję administracyjną i miał zapewniać sprawne funkcjonowanie państwa Piastów. Kazimierz był ważnym centrum administracyjnym i ważnym miastem portowym. W późniejszym okresie popadał w ruinę i został opuszczony. Obecnie zabezpieczono pozostałość ruin i udostępniono dla ruchu turystycznego.
