A small family vinyard, the family are passionate about their vines, I learned a lot about the wine making process from (in our case) guide Sofia and just as importantly the grape harvesting process, things that I had no idea about! After the tour itself (about an hour) part of which is conducted by Joana you are seated for about another hour where Sofia explained more about the post harvest processes this takes place on the amazing reception terrace (whole building is clever/unique, I believe designed by Joana?) you are presented with cheeses and cured meats, then they bring round 4 different wines to sample, this is not a 'boozy' affair thank goodness, you really are sampling the wines. A very pleasant afternoon with mixed parties of guests. You will find that the 'lefties' (as the family like to be known - do the tour you'll find out why!) are not pushy with the wines, in fact if you want to purchase any wine you might have to ask them, as some of the wines are often already sold. Great, informative & interesting...
Read moreA truly nice experience. It was an amazing afternoon we spent at Quinta do Canhoto. Joana and Edgar were very nice, knowledgeable and friendly. They explained the history, challenges and progress of the making wine in their winery. They were very informative, taking time to answer all questions, showing the different stages of wine making production. The wine tasting was one of the best I have been, not only because the wines have great quality but also because there was no rush and the tasting was accompanied by tasty tapas style food. The wine was absolutely fantastic and I must say that supplanted by far my expectations of an Algarve wine. Just a word for the friendly and kindness manners of Joana and Edgar, well done, your hard work and vision, it is clearly noticed in your amazing final product. Very, very, very...
Read moreI'd booked as a group of six to as part of our friends 50th birthday celebrations. We were a little early but were warmly welcomed and our table for the post tour tasting was ready for us. We purchased a beautiful bottle of their reservation branco to enjoy while we waited and thoroughly enjoyed it. Our guide was a delight and so knowledgeable. We also meet the owner and his sweet little dog! The cheese and charcuterie boards was so well presented and the lady who introduced each wine was lovely. We had an such a memorable afternoon. The wines are very cheap for such well made, balanced products. I purchased a few to take home but they'll also ship worldwide if you wish. Highly...
