Aquashow water park easily snatched a rock-solid four stars from me, but let's be real, they lost one star faster than a towel at a crowded pool party – blame the crowd congestion! We thought we were being early birds by showing up just 10 minutes before the park opened, but apparently, we were fashionably late to the "massive queue to get in" party.
Now, here's where the silver lining starts to pour: free parking! I mean, score one for Aquashow, because they've cracked the code to the elusive "parking that doesn't make your wallet weep" equation. Our family squad, spanning the generation spectrum from 'teen angst' to 'adulting is hard,' stood outside in that queue circus, but they waved their wand of efficiency and boom, we were let loose in the water kingdom.
Kudos to the staff, who were not just friendly, but as happy as kids at a candy store – except these kids were also splashing water at you playfully. We decided to brave the queue for the Mammoth Blast ride – a fitting name, considering we waited what felt like a geological era. A whole 20 minutes, which, in queue years, is practically a blink of an eye. And let me tell you, it was worth it. The ride itself was like a symphony of water and adrenaline, and the staff, oh boy, they were practically conducting the symphony with their gleeful splashes.
Unfortunately, our dreams of a second Mammoth Blast pilgrimage got crushed by, you guessed it, another mammoth queue. The rest of the day went on to resemble a "Stand-in-Line" marathon more than a water park adventure. On the bright side, sun beds were like treasure chests just waiting to be claimed, and you didn't even need a map to find them – that's a victory dance right there.
Now, about the food – imagine your typical burger and chips situation, with a sprinkle of "reasonable quality and price." But oh boy, the organization of this food situation was a comedy skit gone haywire. Picture a bunch of young food servers playing a juggling act with trays, burgers, and impatient customers. It was a show, alright, but not the one we signed up for. The burgers were straight off the grill, but the whole 'serving multiple customers at once' game led to a hilarious medley of complaints, wrong orders, and food that cooled down quicker than a celebrity romance.
On the cleanliness front, Aquashow aced the test. The rides were indeed abundant, but guess what else was in abundance? You guessed it – the queues. And then there's the Montana Rusha ride, a rollercoaster that probably had more loops than our time spent queueing. It was a crowd-pleaser, and thankfully, it didn't come with a queue loop.
Now, listen up, Aquashow, I know August is the month of sun and fun, but seriously, the queue game was on steroids. Either corral the crowd or take a leaf out of Florida's book and adopt the virtual queue magic of Volcano Bay. Until then, prepare for the queue-jam, folks, and pack your patience alongside your...
Read moreGet ready for an absolutely sensational day out at Aquashow Waterpark in Portugal! Our family, consisting of two adults and two energetic kids (aged 12 and 15), recently had the most incredible time there, and we can't recommend it enough. This park truly delivers on its promise of thrilling rides and fantastic family fun!
Two small pieces of advice for the lockers you need to have cash - ATMs are onsite but you may not be bringing your wallet etc. with you. With the weather and lots of green areas to pitch your parasol and belongings it may not be required.
One other item is a lot of people had waterproof pouches for their phones - but for some rides were not allowed to bring them on for safety reasons.
From the moment we stepped in, the vibrant atmosphere and sheer scale of the park impressed us. Our 12-year-old was immediately drawn to the "White Fall" and the exciting "Speed Race," while our 15-year-old bravely tackled the towering "Freefall" and the exhilarating "Twin Space Shuttle." There's an amazing variety of slides, from super-fast drops to winding tunnels, ensuring endless entertainment for all ages and thrill levels. The queues were managed efficiently, which meant more time splashing and less time waiting in the sun!
What makes Aquashow stand out is not just the water slides, but also the fantastic amusement park rides! The "Top Swing" and the "Air Race" added an extra layer of excitement that you don't typically find in a water park. It was brilliant to switch between cooling off on the slides and getting an adrenaline rush on the dry rides.
The park is impeccably clean, well-maintained, and feels incredibly safe. The lifeguards and staff are attentive, friendly, and clearly prioritize safety, which allowed us to fully relax and enjoy our day knowing our kids were in good hands.
Beyond the attractions, Aquashow offers excellent amenities. There are ample sun loungers, plenty of shaded areas, and a great selection of food stalls and restaurants to satisfy everyone's cravings. The entire park has a wonderfully positive and energetic vibe, making it the perfect setting for creating cherished family memories.
Aquashow Waterpark is more than just a day trip; it's an adventure that will leave your family buzzing with excitement and wanting more. Our kids are already planning our next visit, and honestly, we're right there with them! If you're heading to Portugal and looking for an unforgettable day filled with laughter, thrills, and quality family time, Aquashow is an absolute must-visit. It's...
Read moreWe chose to visit a water park which would be close to the town of Faro. Aquashow seemed ideal, you can get here from Faro by train (to Loulé station) and then on foot, or by taxi from the station to the aquapark building. It is definitely better to buy tickets online than on the spot, as (at least at the time of our visit) there is a 10% discount on online tickets. After entering, it is worth buying a locker to store your things, just be careful that the lockers are quite small, we just stuffed two ordinary city backpacks into one.
The water park is vast and very nice to look at. There are plenty of slides, waterslides and other water attractions including swimming pools. There are also some non-water attractions, but they did not interest me personally as it was not the purpose of my visit. The water slides were great, I enjoyed them all and the selection was really wide. What was a great pity, that there were long queues for almost every water slide (on a weekday at the beginning of July). Because of this, we missed to try all the slides during our afternoon visit. In addition, in my opinion, the park closes unnecessarily too early. So if you're planning to visit, it's definitely best to arrive right at opening time so that you have the whole day for the experience.
We did not buy food or drink in the water park but from the offer I saw, it all seemed quite expensive, but that's how it is. Toilets and other similar facilities were clean. What I appreciate is the animation program of the water park, when we had the opportunity to see and listen to presentations about reptiles (tortoises, snakes, iguanas), birds and others.
Overall, I really liked this water park. The price is not the lowest, but it is in line with what you can find in the area. I was disappointed by the long queues that lasted up to tens of minutes for some attractions - but thanks to the nice weather, we didn't mind, we caught the sun's rays at least. On the contrary, I was very satisfied with the fact that there are attractions here that will certainly entertain even an adult not only children. I can recommend visiting this place as we had...
