As the old saying goes..."Don't judge a book by its cover.". I have to admit, I had already formed an opinion of a restaurant named Golfland based on the business it does with mini-golf and golf simulators. Was I ever wrong. The menu is limited in size, but had something for everyone. Beginning with the gravlax salmon starter of an ever so subtly smokey salmon sliced thicker than usual and served at the perfect temperature for the flesh to be pliable and the fats in it to loosen with no saltiness that typifies most such dishes. Next, I had the linguine with razor clams in a blistered cherry tomato sauce. I was initially disappointed not to have some shaved parmesan on top of the dish or freshly grated offered. No need. This dish stands on its own without the need to mask the flavours with aged dairy. Delicious. My companion had the prawn risotto. Again, seasoning and flavours were absolutely spot on. The rice was perfectly cooked and glistening as a good risotto should and the individual grains were cooked yet had the perfect amount of al dente bite. Another hole in one (pardon the golf reference). Unfortunately, my companion was feeling a bit under the weather so we skipped dessert. We'll need to stop back for a glass of wine and their made in house chocolate mousse. I cannot recommend this restaurant more.
