One of the interesting things to see within Pena Park is Estatua do Guerreiro (Warrior Statue) which is situated upon a wooded boulder crop just above the pathway that runs beside Mesa da Rainha (Queen's Table). It is just a few minutes walk northwest from Pena Palace if you are interested in viewing the monument. This is a bronze statue of a Medieval Warrior standing with spear and shield with an image of a caravel. The monument is the work of Portuguese sculptor Ernesto Rusconi (1848) and is supposed to represent King Ferdinand II who stands as the eternal guardian. Unfortunately, there is no official walking trail that leads up close to the Warrior Statue, like what you will find with the High Cross and Viewpoint further north. However, just beside the Queen's Table, there are windows in the trees where you can see the statue fairly clearly from down below.

If you have plenty of time and want to hike, it is worth a walk, but nothing impressive. Go instead to Catherine's Heights to see the Queen's chair and the wonderful view of the palace from across the arroyo.

Nice statue and monument. The path is not a hike but a rock climbing so prepare yourself for it if you would like to visit it from closure
