This place is definitely worth a visit, but be warned, it is absolute chaos. We made the mistake of only going there at 11:30 am. We were stuck in a traffic jam and by the time we arrived, the only available time slot to tour inside the palace was 5 pm. I highly recommend buying your tickets beforehand and arriving by 10 am when it opens. There are two ticket types avaliable. One allows you to walk all the grounds as well as the terrace around the outside of the palace (€10). The other ticket type allows you to walk all the grounds, the terrace and through the interior of the palace (€20). Entering the palace is by STRICT time slot, if you are late, they will not let you in....and they will not let you in early either. Walking the grounds is any time. We thoroughly enjoyed walking the grounds, there were a lot of different paths, but some were closed off. It rained the majority of the time we were there, but we had an umbrella and still loved walking around. The paths are uneven and steep, so may be challenging to some. There is a nice restuarant at the palace, great for a light lunch or coffee and cake. The curio shop was a but disappointing, the items on sale were expensive and not very exciting (but perhaps it was just a...
Read moreWe are totally disappointed with the people who run this park. We booked on-line and when we tried to leave Sintra town to go down to this park, we tried to walk it but the police said that path was closed due to the trees fallen after their big storm… we joined a huge crowd of tourist, probably 250 people waiting for local buses to bring us down to the park but eventually we were told that the roads a closed and there’s no way for us to get to the park. So we phoned the park to inform them of our predicament and they just told us to walk down, (which was impossible) as there won’t be a refund. I emailed them informing them of our situation but never got an email back nor a refund. So then several hundred people paid in advance that day and never got refunds !!! They don’t care about their visitors and don’t offer refunds… they won’t even respond to emails. We recommend not to ever travel to this establishment as they are only interested in taking your money and not offering a fair service in return. AVOID...
Read moreDonated a good sum of money today. We were late for the reservation - couldn’t predict we will not be allowed to get and park closer to the palace, were to leave the car somewhere near the railway station and as it turned out were to take a public bus to Pena Palace. Took a bus with a sneaky driver (434) who made us pay for the round trip 4 people (available for 24 hours, ha ha ) 54 euros! We were in a rush to realize what happened though the one way trip is only around 5 € per person! Are you people in Tokyo? Where are this prices are coming from!? Ridiculous! So total was 134 € (80 for tickets +54€) thanks.. palace didn’t worth that. Guys, take few pics by the castle! Do not go inside! Doesn’t worth waiting in line to get inside - it’s pathetic. Just few rooms you can see in every European museum for free! There are way better places in Germany or Italy - spacious and better...
