Nata Pura: A Sweet Symphony Before Pena Palace

Nata Pura isn't just a pit stop on the way to Pena Palace, it's a delightful destination in itself! This charming cafe in Sintra won me over with its outstanding coffee, mouthwatering pastries, and welcoming hosts who went above and beyond.

Coffee Perfection: Forget generic brews. Nata Pura's coffee is an experience. My latte was smooth, creamy, and perfectly balanced, while the cappuccino boasted a rich, frothy top and a bold espresso kick. It's no wonder you called it the best in town!

Salmon Toastie Triumph: Craving something savory? The salmon toastie is a must-try. Fresh, flaky salmon paired with creamy cheese and crisp bread - a simple yet satisfying combination that hit all the right notes.

Hosts with Hearts of Gold: The true gem of Nata Pura is its people. The hosts were incredibly helpful and friendly, offering excellent tips on reaching Pena Palace efficiently with my family. Their genuine warmth and eagerness to assist made the experience even more enjoyable.

Pastel de Nata Paradise: And then there were the Pastel de Nata. Forget everything you thought you knew about these Portuguese pastries. Nata Pura's creations are truly out of this world! Flaky, buttery pastry cradles a creamy, custard filling that's perfectly sweet and bursting with flavor. I wouldn't be surprised if they were the best Pastel de Nata you've ever had!

More Than Just a Cafe: Nata Pura is an experience that goes beyond food and drinks. It's a place where you can relax, refuel, and be treated with genuine care. Whether you're seeking a coffee break, a light bite, or local advice, Nata Pura delivers on all fronts.

Beyond a Recommendation, a Guarantee: I wouldn't hesitate to recommend Nata Pura to anyone visiting Sintra. This cafe is more than just a worthy stop on the way to Pena Palace; it's a destination in itself. And if you're not convinced? Consider it a money-back guarantee for pure delight!

P.S. Don't leave without trying a Pastel de Nata (or several!). You'll...

If you think/ read about „ Pastel de Nata „ of course you will get as first answer within Lisbon , the Custard Tarts from Belem , then maybe some other suggestions … but … as a experienced traveler you know the best restaurants/ places to see are often “ hidden” , far away from the Spotlights and don’t appear right away as search result . And this applies to NATA Pura , this small , hidden gem in Sintra , that collects international Awards for his Custard Tarts , that are for sure unique . You get to know some of the details that make this ones different in a very good way but of course .. the rest is a secret . NATA PURA as said is hidden , located in Sao Pedro , kinda 20 Min by foot from the Historical Center , offers lots of Parking Spots ( free for now ) if it’s not the weekly market and very accessible. It’s not all about the Custard Tart you have also the Wraps , delicous fresh Pizza … well.. it’s the perfect spot before you start your tour thru the historical City Center and after and inbetween… Very simpel resumed: If y are in Lisbon go to Belem just for the Picture , if you wanna something for the Taste , the Picture and that is NOT expensive .. NATA PURA . And as Info : 6 Custard Tarts , 1 coffea , 1 Apple juice , one maracuja juice , 2 smal salmon wraps and 1 smal pizza .. 30€ , so for the quality you even underpay. Enjoy , you are not...

We came here purely based on the glowing reviews, hoping to pick up some Pastéis de Nata as gifts to take home- and we were absolutely not disappointed. These were, without a doubt, the best Pastéis de Nata we tasted during our entire time in Portugal. The pastry was perfectly crisp and delicate, the custard silky and rich, and the balance of flavours simply exquisite.

What really set this place apart, though, was the creative twist on the classic. In addition to the traditional version, they offered a delightful range of unique flavours—fruit, chocolate, salted caramel, and mocha—each one thoughtfully crafted and utterly delicious. It’s rare to see this kind of innovation without compromising on quality, but here, every variation felt like a fresh and exciting take on a beloved favourite.

The owner who served us was charming- warm, knowledgeable, and clearly proud of what they create here, and rightly so. His enthusiasm added to the experience and made us feel like we were taking home something truly special. A real gem of a place, and one we’ll be dreaming about long...

We had the pleasure of visiting Nata Pura in Sintra three times during our vacation, and we truly wish we could have gone more! This lovely café, right near the city and with free parking, is an absolute gem. The food is delicious, and the owner and the staff are all incredibly kind and welcoming. The atmosphere is fantastic, with great music playing in the background. One of the highlights for us was how dog-friendly they are, which was a huge bonus. We also tried their brunch, and if you go, make sure you're really hungry – it's an enormous amount of food! We even took the leftovers and enjoyed them as a picnic in the national park later that day. While Nata Pura is known for its traditional tarts (which are absolutely delicious), we became obsessed with their croissants. The owner mentioned that he gets the butter from France, and these croissants are out of this world. Along with fresh squeezed orange juice and giant cappuccinos, everything was just perfect. You really can’t go wrong at Nata Pura. It's well worth the visit, and we can't recommend it enough!
