I traveled through a lot countries, visited a lot museums and also not less botanical gardens. The botanical garden in Bucharest is definitely the only one I don't want to visit again and I can also not suggest to visit it. The greenhouse is in a bad condition and all flowers are still in there pots. It is looking like an unorganized gardening store. But even this is something I could accept. We are both hobby photophers, taking pictures since sone years and for a long trip I upgraded to a good large camera.
After 30 minutes walking arround and taking pictures of the 3 nice flowers there one of the staff came to us and explained us really unfriendly that taking pictures is not allowed and that professionals has to pay a fee of 200 lei (40 to 50 Euro) per hour for taking pictures. We explained that we are not professionals and she start to become louder and louder and explained us the same again and again (in Romanian, my girlfriend is Romanian so it was not a language issue). To the question how they define professionals she said she has no idea but because of the amount of pictures we took (maybe 100) she fears that we sell them. She told us that we can go one visiting the garden but she will follow us to be sure that we don't take more pictures and if we take she will call the security.
I don't suggest to go there and if you go take care what and how many pictures you are taking. The staff in the greenhouse was just unpolite and kind of aggressive... We didn't got any information about this "rules" even if The could se that we came with a camera. And the list on the outside where this fees is written is small and just...
Read moreThere are nice spots to relax in, with more nature than you would usually get in other parts of the city.
There have been management difficulties for while, and many species that have been grown here were lost, but the conditions are slowly improving and efforts are being made to renovate parts of the garden.
An area in the south of the garden has been left to grow wild and it is kept under observation by the staff and researchers of the affiliated Faculty of Biology (several species of birds are now nesting there, and plant ecology is monitored).
The souvenir shop is under different management and run mostly by volunteers when they have time to be there, so the Open hours for it aren't always reliable.
The greenhouses are open for a shorter time than the gardens - check beforehand if planning to visit.
There are plenty of benches across the garden, and a few feature usb charging ports (did not test them).
Best times to visit are spring for flowers and autumn for leaf colors; can also be a cooling break from the heat of the city during summer (it is a few degrees cooler :) compared to the concrete...
Read moreA magical place hidden right in the heart of Bucharest! If you love nature and parks and want to clear your mind by walking along lovely green paths surrounded by a variety of vegetation, bridges, and a large lake, this is the perfect spot for you. We visited a park decorated with the theme of the story "Beauty and the Beast." Every tree, path, and ornamental area was beautifully adorned, with small decorative bulbs hanging and flowers blooming, creating a festive atmosphere inspired by the tale. To add to the ambiance, classical music from the film played throughout the park, making our visit even more enjoyable.
After exploring the park, we checked out the unique greenhouses made of glass, which house an impressive collection of succulents, cacti, and tropical plant species. The greenhouses were pleasantly warm and filled with vibrant blooms.
In the middle of the park, there is a café pavilion where you can relax with some ice cream or coffee and let your feet rest. The park is spacious and clean, making it highly recommended for a...
