This is one of the best museums in Romania. Not only is it new and comparable in curation to top notch places abroad, but the artefacts dating thousands years back or the patrimony of old books by themselves are worth the visit
Everything is translated to English and the museum is organized chronologically starting with the Cucuteni culture and even earlier than that moving through a series of 27 rooms through Antiquity, the Middle Ages, Modernity and up to the Communist era and beyond. Sone of the history is a bit sketchy with some rooms being very small, but you definitely get an impressively clear and coherent idea of the history of Bucovina.

Read moreAwesome! Haven't been here for more than 20 years. They did renovations all over. I'd say it's at European standards. Very clean, well organized and so admirable that they organize new termporary exhibitions from time to time and you can also see the advertisements about them around town.
Only had time to visit the Tibetan Art exhibition, but already planning on the next tour for the Hunting weapons exhibition and of course the permanent exhibition they always have.

There is a great sense of detail in every room you are walking through. Fantastic source of education for younger generations and also a source of emotions for those who experienced the years of communism.
