The Bega is an older Soviet era hotel in very good condition. The main reception area is well staffed and all of the staff at the front desk spoke some English. It ranges from excellent to poor. Check in is at 3pm, but we arrived at 930 am from the airport and they managed to get us in a room quickly to get some much needed rest.||||It is about a 20 minute walk to the Moscow Metro, Begovaya station. We didn't walk much in the neighborhood surrounding the hotel. There is not much there to see as far as tourist attractions or interesting buildings. It is a typical Moscow commercial neighborhood. I felt the area was safe and didn't have any fear walking back-and-forth from the metro at all hours.||||Furnishings and decor at the Bega Hotel were dated, but in great shape. Our room was small, by western standards, but they made very good use of space. A desk and two chairs, a wardrobe cabinet and a room safe came in the room. The 2 twin beds were on the firmer side, but comfortable. The linens were fresh, crisp, and clean. The room itself was like the rest of the hotel, extremely clean and well maintained. I have a serious allergy issue and am highly susceptible to dust and mold. I had no problems in this hotel due to the cleanliness. The bathroom was a good size with a stand-up shower tub combination. The bathroom could use some more shelving or counter space for toiletries. ||||I never could figure out how to operate the thermostat in the room, but it turned out to be a non-issue as the room temperature was perfect the entire time we were here. The outside temperature was between 40 and 50° during our stay. Our fifth floor room came with a balcony and a wonderful view of the harness racing track behind the hotel. ||||Breakfast comes with the room and the breakfast food was plentiful and delicious. It is served in the hotel restaurant. Lots of traditional Russian food as well as some western favorites. It is buffet style with unlimited quantities. Service was good during breakfast as well. In addition, the restaurant is open 24 hours per day.||||If you are looking for a nice hotel from Soviet era with excellent service, very clean, and has a good restaurant, then this...
Read moreThe entire hotel was very clean. The front desk workers were very professional and all spoke English. They assisted me with many daily tasks and always had a smile. The room was small by western standards, but was exceptionally clean and well organized. It came with high end soaps and shampoos, as well as a nice bathrobe and slippers. The breakfast was included and was fantastic. Everything from Salmon Canapes to eggs, fruits, vegetables, nuts, cereal, blinis, 4 different juices, and the best coffee. We ate at the restaurant several times during our stay and the food was delicious. We had to check out at 3am due to our flight time and the front desk clerk had the restaurant make us a to go box with a sandwich, crepes, and an apple to take with us as we missed the breakfast. This was my second stay here and each time the service is improved. I cannot say enough good about...
Read moreLovely clean hotel - with very helpful staff particularly at reception . Natalia Pulver and her colleagues were exceptional in helping us sort our visas - there were so many of us and so many hoops to jump through but she was fantastic in helping. Getting taxis and answering questions at reception --- excellent - especially as we cannot speak Russian . The food was excellent in the restaurant and breakfasts had plenty of choice and interesting ones too. The staff were very good at replenishing the dishes. If there is one small criticism it is that some of the restaurant staff were sometimes more difficult to get attention from with their backs to us and gazing at the TV ... but it was not consistent or persistent. I also know myself it is less easy to smile when you are concentrating especially when not talking in your own language but smiling does help relax...
