Saturday morning fun in the sun
A hugely popular local Saturday morning food market. The Hazelwood food market is a pleasant way to spend your weekend morning.
The market is held in the outdoor areas of the Greenlyn village shopping centre and hosts dozens of food stalls (and craft stalls elsewhere) with plenty to choose from.
Specialty local and foreign food stalls are popular. Bakery and confectionary stalls are also present as well as stalls selling produce or other food items. Whether you are shopping for food to eat now or ingredients for later, you can probably find something useful here.
There is a fair sized seating area situated in the middle of the market, this eating is always full so it can be problematic at times to find somewhere to sit.
From families with young children (and grandma), to dog walkers and cyclists just finished their morning ride, everyone and anyone turns up here and the crowd is very pleasant, but can be quite busy at times.

Read moreI absolutely adore this quaint market. It's the ideal destination for a quick 'get out of the house' outing with the family, offering a diverse range of food options and a delightful cultural experience. This spot has a wonderfully relaxed atmosphere, perfect for unwinding.
If you plan on visiting during peak hours, I recommend bringing your own chairs as seating can become limited. However, there are also open spaces where you can simply sit back and savor your meals.
I fell in love with this place, so much so that I got too caught up in the moment and forgot to capture enough photos. Nevertheless, I can't stop raving about the chicken soup from the Vietnamese food stall—it was an absolute delight and a highlight of my visit!
All in all, this open-air food market left me with wonderful memories. It's an idyllic setting to enjoy delicious food and immerse yourself in a vibrant cultural atmosphere. Don't forget your appetite and perhaps a few extra photos to cherish...
Read moreThe only place to be on a Saturday morning. Start it off with some freshly brewed coffee and a omelette from the Roosterkoek stall. I then start browsing all the stalls and usually buy some "Hollandse Krokette", a Gourmet Boerewors Roll, and also some wood fire bread for Sunday's breakfast. There are also stalls selling fresh veggies, fruit and organic meat like chicken, beef and lamb. There are also ready made meals, and lots of stalls selling wonderful sweet things like fudge, koeksister, cupcakes, brownies and many more.
This is the ideal place to meet some friends and you can spend the whole morning here. There are plenty of tables and chairs under the trees. There is also an international feel to the market with an array of food items available from Portugal, Italy, Germany, Greece to...
