Plantation Café – Catering & Event Venue — Attraction in Gauteng

We went for the second time now to Plantation Cafe. Luckily, we already knew where it is actually located, as the place plotted on Google Maps was slightly out. It is actually immediately adjacent to the access control boom gate, and shaded parking is available to your left around the corner. Plantation is more than a Cafe - It is a multi-dimensional venue, with several dining areas, indoor and outdoor, well suited to lost small functions. Their food catering standards are very good, although some of the portions might be small for those with a healthy appetite. But waste not - want not is my philosophy, and it won't hurt to ask for a second heping... There are several very comfortable seating areas, some with plush couches. The decor is tastefully with soft lighting. I loved their Butter Chicken and Basmati rice that was served at the catered function. Their Upside-Down Burger on the menu looks yummy. Do enquire about their restaurant / kitchen operating times, as not all items on the menu may be available at some times, especially the Indian curries. We had our company year-end function here. First impressions were very poor as parking is very limited. Most of us had to park on pavements and on the street. It was very disorganized and unsafe. Inside, the venue is pretty and was beautiful decorated. There is poor ventilation and even with a couple of fans, it was unbearably hot and uncomfortable. The venue and staff are not suited for a large group of people. Queues for drinks were unreasonably long and unpleasant. Starters were served at tables by too few waiters and in a most disorganized fashion. Half a table was served while the other half watched us eat. The waiters then started with other tables and we had to keep asking them to come back and finish serving. Food was late and cold. It was supposed to be lunch, but our last tables were only dishing up around 4pm. When I dished up, the food bowls were almost empty and there were still 4 tables coming after our table.
