The Franschhoek Valley is renowned for its wine, but recently the craft beer market has started to boom. If you enjoy craft beer this microbrewery should definitely be on your list. They have a wide range of their own beers to taste (Lager, Golden Ale, Weizen and Pale Ale) as well as some beers from other craft breweries on tap. The tasting area doubles as a restaurant, so you can grab something to eat after tasting their beers. The menu consists mostly of light meals and snacks, and if you have a sweet tooth I can highly recommend you try their churros which were very tasty. The brewery is decorated in kind of a "Steam Punk" style and you have a view of the brewing equipment which is always interesting for beer enthusiasts. The indoor seating can get a bit cramped when they are busy so better for couples or smaller groups, but there is also an outside seating area which is great when the weather is nice.

We actually really liked the look of this place, which is why we chose to dine one evening. We ordered a few lighter bites and shared them. The food was just ok. The service was great, very attentative, and ensuring we had what we needed throughout the meal. The atmosphere was just what we were looking for. It was bright and lively, right on the street where you could watch the world go by. It was busy and seemed to be a local hangout as well as a tourist spot. Inside, there is a gallary for the brewery. We tried a beer flight consisting of 5 different samples from the brewery. This was well worth doing as a nice change from all the wine tasting.

I ordered the Korean Cauli, I pointed it out on the menu to the waiter named dickson, and mentioned that I'm vegan. He brought me body parts of a poor baby chicken instead. I unfortunately did not know, as it was my first time there, and after 2 bites, I realised that it was not cauliflower, the sauce and the deep fried batter on the outside made it difficult for me to know. So angry and disgusted with this service. They ruined my night and my appetite, as soon as I realised, I ran to the bathroom and threw up. Spoke to dickson afterwards, asking how on earth could he make a mistake like that, the guy just said sorry while smiling. So disgusted.

My family and I went here for a pre-wedding meet-and-greet, and I could not believe how terrible the service was. It was a busy night, and the place was being managed terribly. It took over 2 hours just to get a drink - ordering at the bar was impossible; we tried that and waited 30 mins. Then we were tipped off that ordering via a waiter might give us faster results, so we did this instead. After waiting another hour for a drink, I should have taken the cue from other patrons and just left, but most of my party was still there, and half of them had drinks and/or food. I shared a bottle of wine that my friend managed to get, and it was not good. When we managed to pin down another waiter, we asked him to taste it, and he agreed that the wine had turned. The waiter told us that my order was never put through, and it seemed the waiter I had originally ordered from had left. So I ordered again - a bottle of wine and some food. I told him to bring the wine out as soon as possible, which he did, and 25 mins later, the food arrived. My Korean chicken was good, but my friend beside me had a steak, which was tough and fatty. I have some experience in bar management and can safely say this was the worst service I've ever received, for bad wine...

Great setting, great beer, very very average food. After looking at the menu I already had a few reservations that this may have been an over ambitious attempt. Far too many varying cuisines on one menu just doesn't make sense. Be that as it may, I decided to give them a try. I ordered the southern fried chicken burger and my girlfriend ordered a margarita pizza with wild mushrooms. The chicken fillet on my burger was completely undercooked and under-seasoned. The breast was battered in what I would assume to be the same batter they use to batter their fish. It was not crumbed as southern fried chicken is supposed to be. The batter was also burnt and tasted flavourless. This was a very feeble attempt at southern fried chicken. The pizza base was incredibly dry. It almost tasted like a pre-cooked and reheated pizza base. The mushrooms were definitely not the wild foraged mushrooms that were stated on the menu. They were stock standard brown mushrooms. For a restaurant to charge these sort of prices, you wouldn't anticipate the quality of the food to be as a low as the food we were served. This was a hard...

Apr 30 evening: We were in Franschhoek for a day and had our wine tour the next day. So, while roaming around, we noticed this place and even though it was quite cold, couldn't resist the tempatation to have craft beer. We reached with an aim to spend an hour and ahead back home. They still haven't started brewing and hence are serving CBC beers on tap. We had the Amber Wiess - light, clear and wonderful beer. The interiors are done up quite nicely with exposed bricks and even though, it was cold outside, the ambience was quite warm. One can see the brewery as well. The veg nuggets were good and the dip was tangy. The servers were quite attentive and the service was good. We ended up striking a good conversation with one of the servers and got to know about the Indian connection as apparently the place is backed by an Indian corporate. We finished off with the churros which we wanted as a take away. They did mention that it would be difficult to pack the dip but somehow they managed to find a jar for it. We really like the churros and my daughter loved it....
